We are going down for 9 or 10 days in late July early August and we are thinking about renting a car and driving to one of the coasts for the day and hanging out on the beach and having some fun. Anyone have any tips for a good beach to head to and what to see when we are there.
I haven't been to the beach yet, but either Cocoa Beach, by NASA or Clearwater by Tampa are very popular. My friend went with her teen daughter to Captiva Island and had a blast (they stayed for a weekend), but it's 3 hours away. Not quite a day trip.
The Cocoa Beach area has lots of stuff to do, and it is very close to the Merritt Island Wildlife Sanctuary. There's always Vero Beach, too. Let me try to find out the name of the beach my DS and DDiL visited on their hoenymoon...I can't remember but I know they enjoyed it!
