On our next trip, the kids and I will be driving, but my husband can only take a few days off from work, so he will be flying. We'd like to do something as a family (kids are 7 and 10) with less crowds and a Florida feel (nature, culture, tour?) on Sunday afternoon for 3 or 4 hours before bringing him back to the airport. We have morning plans in Orlando.
We went to Showcase of Citrus, on Rt 27 in Clermont. We got to pick our own oranges and grapefruit. They have a wonderful store with samples of the many varieties of fruit they have available to pick as well as fresh fruit juice slushies. We took their Swamp Buggy (monster truck base with a school bus on top)tour, saw the wildlife and even got to feed the cows oranges. We spent a few hours there and our girls, 9 & 12 at the time had a blast.I think they are open from November until May. We can't wait to go back and pick some tasty fruit.
