Kennedy Space Center We got lucky and managed to get tickets to view space shuttle Discovery take off on the Return to Space Flight at KSC. If anyone could tell me the easiest way to get from POFQ to KSC it would be appreciated. I was able to get a car from Enterprise from Friday to Monday for $9.99/day. Now we just have to pray that everything goes well and there are no problems that delay the scheduled launch date. The window runs from May 15th to June 3rd. We are only there until May 19th so we have a small window in which to hopefully get to see this historic event.

Re: Kennedy Space Center from www.kennedyspacecenter.com (under FAQ's) "From the Orlando International Airport, take SR 528 (KSC Highway) east and follow signs. Take SR 407 until it dead-ends into SR 405 and turn right. Continue to follow signs. From Interstate 95, take exit #212 (old 78 exit) if heading northbound, and exit #215 (old 79 exit) if heading southbound. "

Re: Kennedy Space Center I have always wished to be able to see a launch as well. My DW's cousin lives in Daytona and says she has seen shuttle launches from the beach when the sky is clear.

Re: Kennedy Space Center I just wanted to share my own experience with you. My DD and I were in Orlando in October 2002. We had planned for months to drive to KSC to view a launch. The morning came, and it was all windy and blustery outside. When we left the hotel, the launch was still scheduled. By the time we got to KSC, they had scrubbed the launch due to weather. I was disappointed, because we had planned on it for so long. But then we toured the facility, and it was so AMAZING!!! It was definately worth the trip. A couple of days later, we had spent the day at Universal Studios. We were leaving, in the parking lot, and I just happened to look up in the sky. We got to see the launch! It was incredible, even from that far away!! It really made me proud to be an American. Anyway, the point of this long, drawn-out story Amy

Re: Kennedy Space Center That would be so cool to be able to see a shuttle launch from KSC. I've been there before on our trip to WDW when I was 13. It was such a neat place but I didn't get to see anything like that. That's such a historic event and I hope you can see it! Good Luck to you!! Good job on your rental car as well! ![]()

Re: Kennedy Space Center We just went there as part of our trip to WDW. It's a great facility. One thing to be aware of though - they say you are not allowed to bring any backpacks/bags on launch days. Obviously it wasn't a launch day when we were there, but I would expect they would enforce this rule. They certainly thoroughly searched our bags when we went, and made me turn on my cell phone and hit a couple of numbers, and show them the display on my digital camera. Understandably, the security is pretty tight.
