| Michelle, I love your page!! (And not just because I am in it!! - At least I think I am in the background there!!) I like the little heart for the dot on the "i" in "Scrappin' " What did you use to tie in the heart? It almost looks like yarn. Maggie

| Michelle- I too really liked how you mixed the dots and the stripes together. I thought it was funny to see just the one small heart on the page, but yet, because of the challenge, it was so pronounced! Great job! |

I got the blue stuff I tied the heart with in a little assorted pack at JoAnn's. It had about 12" of 4 different fibers. I really liked the other 3, but not so much the blue one, but it matched very nicely. The blue stuff is kind of like yarn only fuzzier, if that makes sense! I thought the page needed a little dimension and as you know, I don't like foofy stuff, but I guess if I can use hearts, I can use blue foof!

| Maggie, I love it! The cards are such a cool way to use the hearts and it's such a nifty page for your DH!

| Maggie!!! I that page! Just beautiful. The cards are so cool. I really liked them at first glance and then I read the title and love how it ties in with the king of hearts card. What a creative way to use hearts for this challenge. I saw some vintage Mickey playing cards in a Halmark store a few weeks ago and after seeing your layout, I am kicking myself for not buying them. Guess I need to add them to the list with the dictionary. Do I see Dymo tape on that layout? Great job.

| Yes. That is Dymo tape. I have always enjoyed seeing this font on other people's pages but I have never used it before. I tend not to use "non-traditional" scrapbook stuff. But I thought I would give it a try. This challenge really "challenged" me. I did many things I normally do not do. I was trying to spread my wings a little - which it seems many people did this month! 1. I only used one picture. I NEVER do that. 2. I had the picture blown up to a 5x7. I NEVER do that either. 3. I had it printed in sepia - just for fun since I liked everyone else's and color didn't matter in this particular picture. (Although I did make DD15 take off her bright yellow school sweatshirt so it didn't clash with the red in the page!!!) 4. I used the playing cards - I normally don't add stuff like that. 5. I used the Dymo tape. 6. I mixed up the fonts - which I have enjoyed on others' pages. 7. I inked the edges of the letters. 8. I SANDPAPERED the cards AND INKED them to make them looked a little distressed - normally I don't take so much time on a page! 9. I used ribbon - which I only do once in awhile. 10. My page is NOT symmetric which is something I ALWAYS struggle with. You know how us scientists are so LEFT brained!! Maggie

| WOW! That's one heck of a list. I'd say you did more than spread your wings a little. I think it was more like a lot!!! So, I have to ask, do you love the page? Did you enjoy doing one using all the things you did? I ask because I feel like I have been stuck in my style for quite awhile, and when I try to branch out and go for a different look, my old ways seem to creep back in.

| Michelle and Maggie have added two of the most gorgeous pages! I really like the way both of you stepped out of your comfort zone - something I need to challenge myself to do. Marv, your page really pops! I love those colors. Maggie - I really appreciate you posting all the different things you tried on your page. And the results were definitely worth it.

Being I've looked at so many of your albums, the embellishments and style of this layout really surprised me! The MOA group always talks about how if we looked at albums (with pics we didn't know), we could pick out each other's albums by the scrapping style alone. But, you would have fooled me this time. When I read through your list of new things you tried, I saw almost all of them when I first looked at it. (I'm good, aren't I? I know what Nala means about trying new things and then going back and making it more like the style you're comfortable with. I did a two page layout for my last album and put the pictures all in the center and was going to leave blank spaces all the way across the top and bottom. I saw a layout I liked that was done this way. I did scrap it this way, but each time I looked through the album it bothered me and eventually I went in and filled up some of the space. Change is hard! I'm really glad we have been challenged with these monthly challenges to help us grow as scrappers!

I usually end up having 2 full Creative Memories albums per year for all of our pictures. I take a lot of pictures. And these are just "events". I don't have time for any artistic layouts of non-holiday, school event, type thing. If I estimate I put 45 actual pages in an album, that is 90-100 album pages (200 layouts) per year! This doesn't include any Disney trips or Christmas (that has its own album). So, I have to do very simple layouts!! I am already severly behind even doing simple layouts!! BUT ... I enjoy spreading my wings for things like this challenge!! I think each month for the challenge I will use it as an opportunity to do pages like I normally wouldn't but also secretly wish I could. Maggie
