Should I or Shouldn't I???? Cricut Question.

We're expecting to get our tax refund next week, and DH thinks I should purchase a Cricut plus some cartridges....I'm not entirely sure that I'd use it enough to make the investment worth-while. Okay, I know that if I have it, I'll find excuses to use it, but is it really, truly worth buying??? I know that some of you have one of these little beauties, so what's your take on it? I'm really torn here.......

I love my Cricut! I found some way to use it on the last 4 pages I did. I didn't know they were coming out with one that used 12x12 though

They have them on clearance right now, because the new models are about to come in. and YES they are so worth it. Buy the cartridges on ebay though, much cheaper, but lucky you, I had to beg.

I used one last weekend at our crop, it was pretty neat. My friend's DH bought hers on QVC and she said it was much cheaper than the stores. So you might check QVC out before you buy.

Do you use a lot of letter stickers? It would take the place of those - you can cut out your letters to match your paper exactly.

Oh, I may have to keep an eye out for the clearance one too. That's the only way Jason would ever be okay with me getting one. Of course, he wants a $500 tool set with our tax return (in addition to a GPS for the boat) so maybe I have some leverage.

Right now Hobby Lobby has them for $194 and change. The cartridges are $59.98. I didn't know about the Disney cartridges! Wow!!! I only use 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for matting, etc., so maybe the current model will do me fine....And yeah, where are they on clearance?????

If you're only going to cut out letters or shapes, you will do fine with 8 1/2 x11 paper. I think you can set the machine for what size paper you are using. I actually used thin strips of paper, since I didn't cut out a lot at a time. The paper sticks to these sticky plastic sheets that feed into the cricut, so you can use any paper, as long as it's big enough to hold what you're cutting out.

You can use a 6x12 piece of paper which works well for me as I use it for mostly letters and small embellishments.
I got mine at Wal-mart before Christmas for $149 and the cartridges were $59. I thought that was reasonable so look around there are deals out there.

Carol - what's included in that price? Is it just the machine itself, or does it include the sticky plastic sheets, any cartridges, tool kit, etc?

Oh my goodness. I just went to the Cricut website to see the Disney cartridges and I'm already thinking of ways to sneak them in the house without the DH knowing.
