| Have any of you ever done or do digital scrapbooking? What can you tell me about it? What are the advantages and disadvantages? I am just now looking into doing it and want to find out all I can before I start - if I decide to give it a try at all. Thank you! Danielle

| I use LifeTimez (I'm a TLC consultant) and I LOVE it. There are templates or you can build your own page from scratch. Lots of embellishments and fun things to add. The thing I like about it is that I can make multiple copies, so it's great for gifts. If you want, you can also print the page *without* embellishments and then add them if you still want some dimension. The best part about it for me, though, is that it's so easy to use. Both 8 & 11yos have made scrapbook pages that look 'professional'. There are no oopsie cuts as there frequently are with them, too, so no wasted paper. It's also nice to be able to work on a project and only sit at the computer rather than drag out all my supplies. As for negatives, the result is like a picture book, so you don't get the handmade quality to it. There is something visceral about touching the ribbon and metal and cutting the photos that is very satisfying for someone with an artistic bent. At some point, you will most likely want to add modules of new designs and those can start to add up after awhile, although maybe not as much as the traditional paper/embellishment stash. For me, time is about the same. Digital isn't that much faster in the actual page creation, due to having to re-size objects and move them around the page.

| Digital Scrapbooking has a whole array of options available! My sister & I have a website called DigiScrapInfo.com where we have a lot of information for beginners. On our blog, I have links to where you can get freebies to download & try. We use ACDSee Photo Editor and you can read more about that here. It's a user friendly software without the huge learning curve. You can use any supplies that are available on the internet. We have tutorials & are starting to add videos to make it easy to get started. I love digital scrapbooking because it allows me to be much more creative. The books aren't as bulky. The downside is the lack of a tactile experience. But you can mix digital scrapbooking with paper & get the best of both worlds1 Look for a magazine called Scrapbooking Dimensions. |

| For page sizes in ACDSee Photo Editor - you can set the work space to be any size that you want. So you can make anything from poster sized pages down to a blinkie. (I'm working on a blinkie right now that is 3" x 1/2"). The important thing is to work at 300 dpi for resolution. We talk about those things in our first tutorial & guide you thru the steps with screenshots. There's a 30 day trial, so you can try it. So you could create square pages or rectangular. Some people do 8 x 8" and then have them printed at kiosks as 8 x 10" & cut off the excess. There are many printing options:
The standard page is usually 12 x 12 or smaller. |
