| Cricut Cutting Mat How can I make my Cricut cutting mat sticky again? Or do I need to just go out and buy another one? The paper isn't staying on the mat while its being cut. I worked on my January challenge page last night, but need to fix the mat before I can continue. Maggie

| I think there was a thread within the last few weeks about how to "re sticky" the mats. I don't have a Cricut (yet) so I don't remember the details but there were suggestions on renewing and prolonging the life of the cutting mats.

| Ask Michelle. She mentioned doing it for her Wishblade, but I don't recall that she gave us all the details.

| Michelle knows how to do it, so maybe you could send her an email. She was going to show me how to re-stick my mats, but I forgot them at home the last time I saw her. When we were at Scrapmania last week, Tricia told me about wiping the mats down with wet wipes to clean them off and prolong the stickiness. I tried it out at Archiver's, and it seemed to make my mat more sticky again. Good luck!

| I tried the Quilter's Basting Spray, and it was a disaster. I wasted more money on the spray than I would have buying new mats. It made my mats way too sticky and tore the paper. I wash my mats in soapy water and that prolongs the stickiness, then I just use new ones.

| I find that I can get them to be resticky just by wiping them down with baby wipes - the cheaper the better. Now it's not SUPER sticky like a new mat would be, but it holds well enough.

| I taped off the edges and did a light spray with Elmers adhesive spray and I've done the ZIG glue. The ZIG was a little too sticky I preferred the elmers spray. I worked out the best for me. I usually try to use a lint roller on them before I put them away. I'll have to try the baby wipes and see if that works better. |

| Thanks for the baby wipe tip. Washing the mat seems counter-intuitive, but I can see how it would help. I'll need to try that with my mats.

| I was looking at something else on customcrops website and notice this ad for a product from crafters companion. There was a video on the product page showing them using it specifically to re-sticky the cricut mats. It looks pretty good. They claim that from the 2 products you would have enough to restick 48 mats I believe that they said. Custom Crops I did google the product to see comparative pricing and found it on scrapbookingally.com for $6.29 per product and no shipping or tax. Crafter's Companion Stick Away 10 Oz. Adhesive Remover - CCAS04 - ScrapbookingAlley.com Scrapbookingally.com is with ritz camera. |

I have done this, it helps get any little pieces of paper off the mat and does help it stick better.
