| July Challenge I am feeling Patrodic today so do a layout the is Patrodic. It can be fireworks or The 4th of July, anything with an American flag or what ever remionds you of the red,White and Blue. Even if it's just using the 3 colors.

| I think I might have to bow out of this one, as I can't think of anything I'm going to be scrapping in the near future that fits in with this theme - I might be moving on to scrap Sue and Steve's trip over here. Any chance I can bend the rules a bit and be patriotic and do a British page with a British flag?

| O.K., so I was the last or one of the last to post in June challenge, so I'll be first in July challenge. Keep in mind, my mission is to get lots done this summer, so I have quick non complicated pages. By accident I found I could print all 9 fireworks pics in a layout pattern on one of our programs, so I tried it-see the second photo. It's all 9 pics printed on an 8/5 X 11 inch page. The frames were an option I could choose. I wouldn't use it often, but for a quick 4th of July two page layout it worked. Page one has stickers for letters and page two are matted letters cut from my wishblade. I'm not sure what I did wrong on taking the photo of the first page or if a lot of metallic paper just doesn't photograph well. The quality of the pic is terrible but I'm not going to take the time to try again. Just know in real life, the colors on page one are navy blue and a very pretty metallic gold (like on the second page but even that isn't true to the colors) and look great together and my photos aren't blurry in real life, ha! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Very nice, Michelle! Looks like your boys had a lot of ammo to celebrate with on the 4th! I love the ooohhh, aaahhh page - we can't help but say that everytime we see the fireworks. I try not to, but everyone around me is saying that so I just laugh and join right in! I like the fireworks template on your second page - that's a cool way to display a bunch of similar pictures!

| Last year, when Marcie posted a challenge to do a heritage page, I did one of my dad and his service in WWII. After doing that one, I started one of Grumpy's father and his service in the Korean War. Until this challenge, I never got around to finishing it. Thanks Marcie for the challenge this month, as I was able to have a reason to finally get this layout done. ![]() Unlike my father, who had almost no pictures from his service in WWII, Grumpy's father had quite a few pictures and quite a few documents of his service. The background in this layout is a scan of his certificate of Air Training Command for the USAF. I used my Circut to cut out a tiny frame in red paper to put around DFIL in the group picture. The picture on the bottom left of the page is one that took my breath away when I was looking through all the pictures DFIL had of his service. I just thought it was an awesome shot to see not only the men below the plane, but also standing on it's wings. ![]() I added a pharse to my layout that I think speaks volumes that we as American's should always remember. "Freedom is not Free". Many brave men and women have given their lives to protect what we enjoy and I hope we never forget that.

| What fantastic pages so far! Michelle: I hate that metallic paper doesn't photograph. I have no doubt your pages look fantastic in person. I love fireworks page! Nala: Like with your father's page, this of your DFIL service is just as powerful! What a great layout honoring him!

| July Challenge I found a picture of my sister and I and had it enlarged to a 5x7. This was taken in the summer of 1989 when my sister and I visited my dad in NYC right after my parent's divorced. We were visiting the Statue of Liberty and dad took a picture of the two of us with the skyline behind us. This has always been a favorite picture of the two of us and it means even more now because the Twin Towers are in the background. ![]()

| Nala - I love the page of your FIL! Your page is so very patriotic and an honor to all who have served. How right you are - Freedom is not free! The picture of the men and the plane is very cool, makes you realize just how huge those planes really are! I love the khaki colors with the little touches of red, white and blue. Beautiful page! Dawn - I love your NYC page. How cool and bittersweet to have such a great picture of the old NYC skyline. Your torn red and white striped paper also seems somehow symbolic. I love how it all looks on the khaki background!
