Scrap-happy again!

Ok, after being away from my scrapbooking for the past ohhh...1-2yrs...I'm back into the 'mood' of scrapbooking.

So, I've dusted off the layers of dust off my scrap area in the corner of my bedroom and I'm on a roll again

Here's my question...last I scrapped, I never heard of cricuts cutting system. Now that I'm back and everyone is talking about it I did a little investigating and like what I see. Am I wrong that the 'personal cutter' is soon to be discontinued?? And if so, does that mean cartridges for it will be also...or are the cartridges the same for all the systems??

I'd hate to buy a system only to not be able to find cartridges for it

(currently I have a quickutz squeeze cutter and I really don't like squeezing out all my letters)

Welcome Back! I haven't heard that it is going to be discontinued. I know that they just came out with a new thing called the jukebox that you can put several cartridges in at one time. If your not real happy with the quickutz you can get a cuddle bug. You can use qucikkutz sizzix dies and the cuddle bug die in it and you just roll them thru the machine instead of squeezing.

Yeah, I think I'm wrong about the discontinued part...don't know what I was looking at.
Right now I only have one set of quickutz alphabet dies so for me to switch products won't be a big deal...I guess I'm looking for reviews. How do you like your cricut? Is it worth the $$? and are the cartridges the same between the different cricut machines (ie: the original cricut and the newest one out there).

Thanks for any info!

I think from what I've read that the cartridges are good for both machines. Some of the more intricate cuts will work better on the bigger machine. I have the older, smaller version and it's been good for me. Of course, I'd love to update but that will be awhile!

cartridges are good for both machines, watch for sales. It is the ONLY time I buy them! Micheals just ended their sale, 40.00 per cart. If you go to crops talk to other croppers that have the machine, you will find the best info that way! Have fun and good luck.

I love my Cricut Expression. I don't think it will be discontinued anytime soon. It is way too popular plus Provocraft is looking for demonstrators at this time and they have several new cartridges coming out in the fall.

I have found that I got the best deal on the machine on ebay. about 1/2 of what you will pay in a store. I have also gotten cartridges on ebay. There is a store online called CustomCrops, they have pretty good deals on cartridges. I have had good experiences with them.

There is so much more that you can do with the larger machine. I'm glad I bought it and not the smaller one.

Good luck. Welcome back to scrapping have fun.

I have the smaller machine and love it. I slowly have been adding cartridges to my stock and love the freedom it gives me.

I hate my hadn writing so I get great letters in colors that match the pages for very little cost. I was not enjoying stickers at all.

Also Walmart tends to have the machines cheaper than a craft store. And I just got the Mickey and Friends for $35 on clearance there.
