Great job Cam! Your wedding looks very similar to the ones of my family from around that time frame, as our family did not have a lot of money either. So, guess I am saying I felt very at home looking at your album. Blue tuxes though.....that is a fashion fad that I am glad didn't stay. My favorite Aunt had them at hers too!

Cam it is just beautiful! I can't believe how similar your wedding was to mine and Toms!! we are a year less than you but:
The guys wore pale blue tuxes (Tom was in white)
I made my flower girls dress and Tom's mom made hers. Our colors were yellow and blue
I carried cascading daisies.
Our photographer was the husband of a very dear friend of mine.
The bridesmaids and mom and I made lasagna for the rehearsal dinner (which we froze) and the dinner was at my parents house. We had such a great time!
PS I just love your dress and that veil was stunning!
Cam what an awesome job you did with this scrapbook/album. It is now, truly, a family heirloom. I bet you and Luke have had a wonderful time going through it with Stephanie. I can just hear her questions and comments!!!
Your comment made me remember a conversation with Stefanie while I was working on some pages one day. She had looked through my stack of pictures still to be used. She had carefully looked over every page already done. Then she looked at me very seriously and asked, "Why wasn't I invited?" I told her she wasn't born yet, so that is why she wasn't there. Her response, "Well, you need to get married again so I can be there!" Love my kid!

I think that your wedding was gorgeous. Your wedding looks to me what a wedding should look like. I feel that the lavish weddings of today don't showcase what a wedding is truly about. Your wedding showed the love between you and Luke. Love and making a commitment in front of family and friends saying "This is who I love and will be with for my lifetime" is what a wedding is about. You can do that with a small homeade wedding or a giant spectacle of a wedding.
I think your bil did a great job with the photos. I would have never known had you not told us.
, Larisa. Our mothers because of all they were doing for the wedding and I think for my Mom losing her first daughter were a bit tense at times, and Luke and I thought about eloping as all we wanted was to commit our lives to each other. I'm glad we didn't because family is so important to us. My DBiL still takes great pictures and I've learned a lot of what I know from him.

And truly simple is so much more like Luke and me! One of Stefanie's cousins called today and asked her if she was dressing up for Easter. Her response, "I'm not dressing up! I'll just be me."

I have to laugh though, because my parents were married in June of 80 and my dad also wore a white tux (with black piping though) and his groomsmen had powder blue tuxes.
White tuxes were the rage and I really wanted Luke's to have the tails.

And can I say -- I'm equally impressed by the lineup of scrapbooks (all finished I presume) behind it.
Yes, those are all finished scrapbooks and most are of Disney vacations. I need to buy another bookcase so I can house them better.

I forgot to mention that Luke and I even sang to each other as part of our vows. We sang an Amy Grant song "There Will Never Be Another." During rehearsal I had been so nervous that I kept messing up the words, especially the word three, which I sang as twee. But the day of the wedding, we turned to face each other, the music started (played by my DSiL), and every word came out perfectly. Afterwards, we shared that at that moment it seemed everyone was gone and it was just Luke and me. That still makes me tear up!

I hadn't noticed that so I scrolled back up to that page, gasped, made Luke pause the TV, and ran to get the book. The windows above Luke's head are actually square, but even then it does resemble a Mickey ears hat. Thanks for pointing that out because it made all three of us happy and with Stefanie sick we've been struggling for happy.
What an amazing job you did with that! One day, I really want to do a wedding album for us... once I catch up with all the vacations! You've given me some great ideas for if and when I finaly get round to it.
I had wanted to do this album for awhile, but like you kept working on vacations and then stuff for Stefanie, but the worse part was finding supplies. I searched everywhere local (Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, Wal-Mart, Target, etc) and found very few wedding items. I was looking on Scrap Your Trip during a sale when I realized they had wedding items and the stuff was really nice. Thank goodness or I'd have been using the same paper over and over.

I would think so. We would have loved to been in the Magic Kingdom for our honeymoon but could only afford to go as far south as Atlanta where we spent a day at Six Flags Over Georgia. And I was sick for half the day because I foolishly rode a couple of ride guaranteed to trigger my motion sickness.

I really did not want blue tuxes though they were very in. But one of my sisters would only wear blue, so blue was my other color. Also the guys weren't to keen on wearing yellow tuxes.

But tell Luke that I did not recognize him with the moustache!!
I almost don't recognize him either. He grew that our last year in college to make him look a bit older. He didn't shave it off until sometime in the 90s when he wanted to look authentic in his Batman costume. We both think he looks way better without it now and no way does he want to look older now.

My Mom and Luke's were very good seamstresses. My Mom made almost all of my dresses growing up and I was always proud of them. I decided to make a simple shift dress for myself for a shower at Luke's parents church. Mom and I had a good laugh when I tried it on and discovered I had sewn up the sleeves. She taught me how to pull out the stitches and redo it, so I could put my arms through. I obviously did not acquire a sewing talent from her.

How neat! I carried sweetheart yellow roses. Luke had worked as a delivery guy for a florist when he was in high school and they only charged him a fraction of the cost. The roses cascaded over the bible that my Mom had carried in her and Dad's wedding.
Luke's mom made our rehearsal dinner and a family friend made Luke's favorite scalloped potatoes.
It really is cool how much alike we were.

I don't know if it is noticeable enough, but I had a Farrah Fawcett haircut at the time, but my hair is thin and fine. I really wanted a body wave perm, but I couldn't afford that at the time. So my little sister worked with rollers to make it more poofy that morning, but July in Kentucky is hot and humid. But she did a pretty good job.
Awesome Cam! I think it is so cool that you went back and scrapped your wedding. DH and I were also married in the 80's, so it felt like I was on a walk down memory lane. Loved Stefanie's "Why wasn't I invited?" comment.
Pixies to all of you.

I caught that too!
Beautiful album Cam! I love how you left the original pics as is, it does give it that nostalgic feel. Down the road I have to work on my wedding album. I hated the album Tim & picked out for our pictures. So boring and ugly! So, I took it apart and now have all of those photos and after my mom passed away I got all of her photos that she picked out from my wedding. (Lots of photos! ) Tim said to me that I can do a much better job scrapbooking those photos than the photographer did putting them in that boring album. And it would have more meaning and be more personable.
