Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! I've been looking around trying to decide what cutting system I'm going to try to promote since CM is out so I picked up the Fiskars shape cutter and the Coluzzle (although someone told me awhile back that it "stunk") Well, let me tell you, I love it! And, I was spoiled to the CM cutter! I didn't like the Fiskars at all and wound up taking it back. It is hard to manage, wobbles, is a pain to transport, and is just too pricey for what I need. It is a bit inconvenient to have to trim through the little tabs that are left, but who cares when the rest of it is so fast and easy to do? I just sat there and cut a bunch of tags in no time at all. Now to find the rest of the shapes so I don't start considering a Sizzix!!!

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! I ended up with Fiskars shape cutting system. When I first opened it and tried it out..I hated it, but then I figured out how to manage it, and got better at it...although I still think it isn't the greatest. I'm not familiar with coluzzle...I'll have to check out their website and take a look at it...if it's that much better, maybe I will get that instead.

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! Haven't tried the Coluzzle, but I absolutely LOVE my Sizzix! I bought it last year because I was tired of buying those pre-made punch-out letters for my classroom bulletin boards. The uses I have found for that thing has made up for the cost. I even made an Immunity Idol (using the Assistant Principal's face) for our Survivor Challenge. And my son's teachers last year wanted to know where we found such neat letters for his school projects. Our family has had a lot of fun using it! The only downfall is that the dies can be expensive, so I buy the alphabet sets when they go on sale and the other items individually with 50% coupons from Michael's. Dyan

I only have a few basic shapes that I use a lot, but for ease and price, I much prefer it to the CM system...which I did have at one time. I sold it after I had my coluzzle for a while! Ruth |

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! I went to Michael's the other day and checked out Coluzzle. What are the "breaks" or spaces in the template for? For example, when you place the blade inside the groove, you come to a small "break" and then it keeps going until there's another couple of "breaks". Do you have to cut through each of them by hand? I'm getting aggravated with my Fiskars...paper keeps tearing, even though I know I'm holding it correctly or it's not cutting through all the way through the card stock. I've ruined some really good pieces of paper (I just HATE that). Also...I'm really looking for some really good border design templates in the 12" size. Would the Coluzzle system have these too? It seems so difficult to really get a good cutting system that is hassle free. I know CM is supposed to be great, but boy is it expensive.

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! Yes, you do have to snip thru by hand, but with a good, small pair of scissors, it's a piece of cake. I did pick up a border template (here it is: http://www.creativexpress.com/Mercha...ry_Code=xyron) But I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I really did not like the Fiskars system. I have the CM system and I like it well enough, but here are the drawbacks: it's relatively heavy (not nearly as bad as the original circle cutter with the square of glass, though! ), it takes up a lot of space, there are 3 blades tripling your chance to get cut...the design of the cover is poor, hard to get off and can cut you 1st hand experience and it can be hard to decide which blade to us. It takes me less time to operate the Coluzzle and cut the little "tabs" than it does to pull out the CM blade and decide which one I need. I haven't yet decided how I'm going to store/transport the Coluzzle yet...I use gallon ziplocs for my CM (holds the transparancies perfectly, shapes fit in flat), so I may do the same. Since it's smaller/lighter weight, I may be able to get away with one baggie for all of it. Can you tell I'm a new Coluzzle Convert???

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! Dawn...I think you've sold me on the Coluzzle system. I'm going to go back to Michael's and get it. I'll start off with the basic shapes..circle, oval, square, rectangle, etc. and the cutting blade. I've already got a mat, but I noticed that their mat looked a little bit different. Can any cutting mat suffice? Thanks for the link for the border...I forgot to see if Michael's had it, but if not I'll order it online. My next question...straight line cutting for both cropping photos AND larger papers up to 12 x 12....Should I just get something that you would just slide the blade cartridge in a stright line along a groove (like the one Fiskars has) or something else. I know CM and other companies has a personal one, but I want one that does both large and small sheets. Thanks!

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! I didn't try it on another mat, theirs was only a couple of dollars, so I sprung for it. That's what I like most about the Coluzzle is that you can add a little here and there and it's not expensive at all. For straight cutting I have both the Fiskars "slider" and the CM "chopper" and I like both of them. The CM needs an occasional "sharpening" by chopping some foil thru, but the Fiskars has replacement blades. If you are going to be cutting more larger pieces of paper, I would say go for the Fiskars cutter. Hope that helps!

Re: Whoever told me the Coluzzle system was bad should be sent to scrapbooker\'s timeout! Thanks Dawn...I think I'll go with Fiskars. Hey, as a matter of fact, I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks...family gives me cash or asks what I want...naturally, gift certs to Michael's or AC Moore would be perfect!!!! So... my wish list now consists of "Coluzzle cutting system" (blades and templates), Fiskar's "slider", Acid-free pens, and a few other smaller items. I've been lucky to pick up some nice assortments of embellishments from EBAY..very cheap!
