Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

I am going to do my next Disney album in the ABC format. I have most of the letters already figured out based on my pictures. But I would like some ideas on page design.

I was thinking about doing a common design theme on every layout, but change color, decorations, etc. to match the topic.

I can't decide if I should do a title like "C is for Chef Mickey" or if I should just do a big title that says Chef Mickey and hope that its obvious it goes in ABC order??? The only sizzix alphabet I have is Classic. I am willing to buy ONE additional alphabet for the titles. I was thinking the Classic alphabet would be good for the "is for" part of the title. The cover of my album is the Disney Princesses, so I was thinking of going for a princess kind of font/theme.

Any ideas for a versatile layout? Maybe something with tags? I would like it to be simple and I don't do a lot of the 3D embellishments and stuff (dominoes, bottle caps, even fibers). I don't know. I am not creative. I am usually more concerned with just getting the pictures in albums.

Another thought I had was to use the Sizzix 12 inch Abstract die. I thought I could just change the colors around to match the page. I saw a cute Mickey themed border using this die. I thought I could easily make a princess colored one. etc.

I was thinking maybe the Nouveau font

The top design is the Abstract die. It doesn't look all that inviting in this picture. But I have seen cute borders done with this.

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

Cool ideas! I'm thinking about using an ABC format for books for my girls (I have the 8X8 Cindy & Ariel books for it!).

You mentioned the Abstract die as being the top one in the photo. I kind of like the bottom one of those three though. I also know you can get background papers with those concentric circles as well as punches with them. You can create dimensionality without having all of the extra embellishments.

I think Nouveau works with the concentrics too. Or some other type of Brush type...do you use the Sizzix for this-it sounds like it. I use my printer to create my titles anymore...less restrictive I guess.

For mine, I'm thinking about putting the Alphabet letters on Mickey ears or Princess carriages (maybe castles) and then letting it hopefully speak for itself (instead of A is for...). But again, I'm looking at this for an 8X8 book - so space is much more limited!

I do agree with you - I like the idea of a unifying theme or design and then subtle changes from layout to layout!
This probably didn't help you much - just my opinion as I'm thinking along the same lines!

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

I like the idea of putting the alphabet letters on castles or something. I might do something like that.

Also, I never thought about using the swirly border, but that would be great too. I just wonder how hard that would be to attach to the page? I do not have that one yet. I assume I could use the "negative" part and then put a piece of colored paper underneath to hightlight the swirls.

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

That would work on the swirly border!

I'm planning to do a Hidden Mickey layout and print out a title about Hidden Mickey (what I don't know!) and then punch a strip of Mickey heads to place OVER it so the title is - well, hidden! HAHA!

Also - my girls just got a book in the mail today - it's a Disney Learning book - The Alphabet...I'm seeing some things in there that might make some interesting titles - "Just Jasmine", "Cinderella's Coach", "Playful Puppies" (Dalmations), "Really Rosy" (Belle's rose), "Sitting by the Sea" (Ariel), "Time for Tea" (Mrs. Potts), "Up Goes the Umbrella" (Pooh & Piglet under the umbrella - would be cute for a page on being caught in the rain!), "A Very Fine Vine" (Tarzan page...but this could be for DeVine at AK), "Zazu Can Zigzag". I think I might have to use some of these...I also had planned to use small strips of scrapbook paper that is like manuscript paper and have the 5 year old write the ABCs on it for me...since that is what she's learning in school!

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

I'm planning to do an ABC album after this trip, but I'm going to use my Stencil dies. Then I can decorate the letter and use several things that start with that letter on the page. I do like that Nouveau font. Also I think the Funky Brush would go with a princess theme. The Girls are Weird is cute, but might not be the right size. You probably want to the letter for the page to be bigger than your classic.

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

I thought about the Funky Brush but I am not sure it would be a font I would use a lot? It seems the best fit for a Princess theme. But those letters look soooo thin. It seems they would be hard to work with. The letter size is nice at 1-1/2 inch I think. They would make a nice title.

Tell ya what Maggie. I just bought one off Ebay. If you're not in a great hurry, I'd be glad to punch you what ever letters you want if you'll send me the paper. I haven't heard from the seller yet, but as soon as I do I should be able to let you know when I'd have it.

Thank you, that is very generous. But, I think there would be too many letters for you to do. Imagine 26 layouts x however many letters per layout!

Here are a couple of layouts that give a glimpse of what I am thinking about doing. But I would really like your comments. You have to really "imagine" as this is just a basic sketch.

Left hand side page. I am thinking of something like this. I am only really interested in the mickey head and letter idea. The rest of this page is not what i'm thinking. Although I might do a crown instead of the mickey head.

Left Hand Side Page

Then look at this page for the right hand side. I would probably use a plain background paper. Also, for the stripe across the bottom is where I was thinking of doing the abstract Sizzlet die. Then imaginge the title in funky brush font.

Right Hand Side

I don't know if that helps to visualize what I am thinking about doing or not. Think about these examples as sketches.

So, any ideas on how to make it better?

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

I like the idea. I might even scraplift some of it. I love the Mickey head punch, but your idea of a crown would be great since your album will have a princess theme. Is there a crown punch, die or stamp out there?

I sure hope so!

I think there is a sandcastle, but I have to see what it looks like and how big, etc. But I would prefer a crown.

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

OK, too weird. I was just going to post about this. I am planning on doing one for dd after our upcoming trip and I have a whole list, but I can't come up with anything for the letter X. Does someone have a cheat sheet of somekind? I am trying to get as many ideas down as possible so I remember to take pictures of different stuff. Thanks!

Re: Need ideas for my Disney ABC album

A princess crown punch - I haven't found one. I was tempted to order the castle one from WDW - but then got creative on my own!

What I did was take clipart of a crown, scan it, then went into PhotoShop Elements and manipulated it (size, color, etc.). I saved final images and then went into Word and used the templates for business cards and various size labels so I could print multiples images (I can also do this in Elements - and print some 4X6 for journal cards!). I also printed some images as line art so I can go back with markers, chalk, whatever and hand tint the crowns.

You can also find some sites with some Disney images and logos...you can save the jpeg files and manipulate them as well. You do have to be careful of the resolution/pixels - if they're low you have to keep the image small. I was able to enlarge one AK image and print it on photo paper - now I have to go back and do some clipping with sharp scissors!

I also recently got a new printer (Epson R200) and have been experimenting with cardstock, various photo papers, and still have to try the Epson scrapbook paper. I've ended up making a lot of graphics and stuff for my WDW book(s).

I plan to make some smaller ones to attach to photo corners (I'm doing the same thing w/the Mickey head punches). Although, I was just at my local store today and they do have princess photo corners - I think they were crowns - maybe castles! I was scared to look too hard - might have been tempted to buy more! HAHA!

Sorry - I'm WAY TOO excited about my Disney scrapbooks and my trip isn't until December! Psychotic?

eXciting
eXtra Special
eXcellent

etc.

If I can't find anything, I will probably do something like this. Although I dread having to cut out 26 of these!

There is a tiara die from Quickuts. I was thinking I could do a Mickey head and then put the tiara on top? I don't know the size of the tiara, however.
