Idea nudging....

I'd like to make an autograph book for our DD (almost 2) to bring with us on our upcoming trip in March. I'm thinking I want to buy one of those bags of card stock scraps and find some hard cardboard (like the back of a legal pad) to make sort of a make shift one so I can then put the card stock and pictures into our vacation album.

Do you think it will hold up until we get it home? I'm new at scrapbooking. (While my hubby thinks it's great that I finally have a hobby, he's a little worried about the $$$$ I spend on it! I just smile and tell him he can't have it both ways.)

Thanks for your input!

Re: Idea nudging....

I'm not sure how it would hold up...I've never tried anything like that before.

You could get a 6x8 or 6x6 spiral book. The pages are a little sturdier and the book is heavy duty cardboard. Then, you could do one of two things:
1. Tear the pages out, trim them and put them in your album when you get home.
-or-
2. Open the book to a blank two page spread when you visit the character. They sign one side, and once your pictures are developed, the pic of your DD getting the autograph can go on the other page, and you can dress it up with paper, stickers and embellishments.

Either way you go, HAVE FUN! Welcome to the addicting world of paper collecting...I MEAN...scrapbooking! LOL

Re: Idea nudging....

Something that I did was to take cardstock and cut them out into large tag shapes. Then I tucked 6 or 8 into my PassHolder Pouch pocket and brought them out for the characters to autograph whenever we ran into one. Every night I packed them safely away in my PassPorter pockets. The only thing we had trouble with was finding a hard surface for the characters to sign on although the PassHolder Pouch worked in a pinch so long as I didn't have any coins in it. The PassHolder pouch also had a pen holder that I tucked a Sharpie into.

Re: Idea nudging....

Note to self - steal Donna's idea! I love the tag idea for the autographs and I am really into making tags this year for some reason. Have you seen those little clip boards? They are maybe 4 x 6? Wonder if those would help hold the tag while the character signed?

The other ideas are great too. So much better than the books you buy at the parks. Those pages are so thin! I will have to come up with something here soon. I'll let you all know if I discover anything new. I am going to this AWESOME "junk" store tomorrow. It is reported that they just got a ton of scrapbook stuff in. I have bought name-brand stuff there before for nothing. I bought 3 Mickey 8X11 page books by Pizazz for like $2.50 each last year and they have tons of cardstock. I can't wait to go see what they have. They have tons of ribbon too because it was originally a fabric store. Weird, but fun!
