Statying at Wilderness Lodge -- can we use recreational activities at Fort Wilderness?

Hello!
Yesterday, I changed my reservation from POR to WL. I am really excited, and now the kids are hoping that they can do some of the evening activities at Fort Wilderness (movies, campfires, animal petting zoo, etc). I had a really hard time getting them excited about the "move", as they have seen pictures/video of the Sea Serpent pool at the FQ.... but, they watched the Great Hotels episode from last week on WL, and got excited about those activities. I'd just hate to get there and find out WL guests can no longer use those facilities. Just not sure how it all works....

Also -- if we can head over there for some "non-park" time, what is the best way to get there? From what I understand it is about a mile (?) away, and I am not sure my 2 year old will be able to walk it. I was reading in the Passporter that there is a bus/boat that connects the two... Just looking for some advice from those of you who may have participated, especially if you were staying at WL.

Thanks,
Shannon

In a word, "yes". You can take advantage of all activities at FW.
If you take the bus, just make sure your next stop is FW. If you take the boat, the worst you'll face is a nice boat-ride to MK before you head to FW.
WL is my "happy place". I'm sure you'll love it, as will your family.

The nature trail between the resorts is a nice walk that is about a mile. I believe it is paved (can't remember for sure) so you could use a stroller on it if you are bringing your own. We saw lots of animals when we walked it in the evening. If you don't want to take the trail, go for the boat.

The campfire program is lots of fun. When you check in at WL, ask them for a schedule of the movies.

The petting zoo, however, is no longer open.

Most definitely take them into the horse barn and check on Fritz!! He's my favorite horse!! Lucky is a handful.

You can hop on the boat with a BLUE flag. It runs FTW, WL and CR.

Yep, there is a boat that runs between the two resorts and you can rent all size bikes and use them on the trials between the two. I love to sit on the beach at the WL while the kids ride on the bike trails- they have every size from 16 inch to 26 inch and I think that some of the big ones even have the child seats on the back for your litlle one to use.

We stayed at WL in January, and had a great time at the campfire sing-a-long - IMO, one of the most underrated activities on property!

Have a great time!

Great! I am really looking forward to it! Might be a good activity for my 4 and 7 year-olds on our first night, when we return from dinner.... my husband can unpack and put my toddler down, and I can take the older ones over for the sing-along and movie!!!
