Question Tell me about Animal Kingdom Villas!

Hi everyone! My kids have been begging to go back to Disney, and they want to go at Christmas again. So, being the Disney fanatic that I am, I went ahead and booked 4 nights for the first week of December (this year). I booked two nights at the Boardwalk (DD is DYING to stay there), and two nights at Animal Kingdom Villas. We won't be on the dining plan, so the split stay shouldn't pose a problem on that front. The reason I chose AKV was that DH always wishes that we had more space. I think that he'll join us just for the weekend portion of the trip, which will be when we'll be at AKV. There's all the background, but the main question is, what do you think of AKL and AKV? I went all out and selected Savana View, so let me know if you think that that's worth it. Also, any thoughts on restaurants at the hotel, waiting for the buses to the parks, sunrise safari, etc., would be great. Thanks so much, as always, for your thoughts!!

I don't know anything personally about the AKL villas, but I think you made a great choice. A Savannah view is really what it's all about, isn't it? I'm guessing you reserved a one-bedroom since you said you wanted more room, correct? The pictures I've seen of these rooms look great! Have fun planning!

I agree - Savannah view all the way! I actually made these reservations without telling my husband, and I just surprised him with the news today! He seemed to think that the whole thing was a good idea, and he was happy about the extra space at AKV. And yes, I did reserve a one bedroom villa. Another consideration was that DH has been taking constant trips to Disney for conferences at the Swan and Dolphin, so I wanted to stay somewhere that wouldn't remind him of work. DD demanded the Boardwalk (love that hotel too!), so we'll enjoy that for a few days before he arrives. Can't wait!

We loved the Animal Kingdom Villas - we had a pool view when we stayed in a one bedroom in December. We would've preferred a savanna view, but I was booking on the day that booking opened to those members without points at AKV and I didn't have a chance. We adored the accommodation, we thought the facilities in the one bedroom were superb.
