i ve read alot about fort wilderness cabins . are they really as nice as they say ? its my 1st time in the cabins . stayed at carabean beach resort and all star sports . do they have unlimeted refill mugs like other resorts ? all info is helpful thanks .
Weve stayed there and are going back this time. They are nice, its good to have a kitchen if trying to save money. The transportation is a little hard to understand at first with internal & external buses. But its a nice resort.
I've stayed in the cabins before and have enjoyed them. The only downside, IMO, is since FW has gotten so large since the time we first stayed there, it's not easy (timewise) to navigate through. We used to be able to walk just a couple of minutes and get where we wanted to go - not anymore.
First of all, there's no CS at FW so I doubt the mugs are free refills. And with the way FW is set up, it would be a long trip to just get a drink. In order to get from the cabins to anywhere else, you either need to walk (not an option IMO), use a golf cart or bike (if you've rented one) or use the internal bus system. The only parking inside of FW is at the cabins and maybe one or 2 spots at the trading post closer to the exit (Meadows Trading Post I think). Having a full size fridge, you're better off to get your own soda and keep it there. If you want piece and quiet though, you'll get it.
We stayed there last April. The pool that was located by our cabin had colder water than I would of liked, the big pool water was however warm, We rented the golf cart to go back and forth to the dock and store I really wouldnt want to stay without renting that golf cart. We took it to the front check in area to get the bus or else to the dock to get the boat, I wouldnt want to have to wait for the internal bus system.

Love the Magic of Disney Thanks Dad for our first 5 trips.
ive already gotten a golf cart reservation , i was told by others to rent one . my 3 kids wanted to know if there were bugs and lizards and armadillos around. i hope i made the right choice but hey its disney its all good even if its bad
The golf cart will be a lifesaver for you. At least internally you shouldn't have any trouble getting around.
As for bugs and lizards, I'm hoping your kids are asking becasue they WANT to see them, because you will. We saw snakes over by the pool, we had a little lizard inside our cabin. All the years we stayed at FW, I think we always ended up with 1 cockroach at some point during the trip - usually on the cereal/snack boxes - so since we didn't use the oven, we started keeping everything in there instead of on the counters. I haven't stayed there in 10 years, so it could be better, but the chances really are there that someone in your family will see something.

We have stayed in the cabins three times. I love the golf cart option, it's a beautiful campground to take a spin in. I really loved going down to the beach at night to watch the fireworks with other families and their children. Definitely a laid back feel.
We enjoyed our little armadillo outside the cabin. Didn't give us too much attention, even when we stood there, watching him dig up the grass! When we moved in, there was a lizard on our door. Needless to say, I love it there. It is very clean and relaxing.
We've stayed there 3 times and loved it each time. We had bicycles, which gave us a very nice ride to different locations within the resort. But we saw alot of golf carts, so getting a golf cart was a wise decision.
In regards to bug, lizards and armadillos - well, never saw any armadillos, but lots of rabbits, squirrels, and peacocks. (I'm not sure if the peacocks are still there.) Anyway, I'm sure you'll see lots of lizards. We saw a few harmless ones around the cabin.
You'll love the kitchen and big bathroom. And it's so quiet at night. We always loved riding our bikes back from the marina at night. It was so nice!!
Have a wonderful time.
