Is it possible that you're confusing the "seasons" listed for resort rooms? Usually, there's a value season, a regular season, a peak season and a holiday season.
The AKL is a "deluxe" level hotel. It does have different views that will give different costs (savanna view costs more than a pool view or a standard view.)
Does that help at all?

OOOPS -- didn't realize that you'd mentioned DVC and the DVC rooms in the Jamba building will have "value" rooms available. I think your question might get the best and most knowledgeable answer in the DVC forum.
The value studios are considerably smaller than the other studios. I got one for my parents in November, so I was able to compare the value to our savannah view room. The room can still sleep four, with a bed and pull-out couch, but I believe it did not have a table and chairs (perhaps there was a smaller alternative) and there was less space to walk around. It would have been too cramped for our family of four, but my parents were very happy there.
