Bay Lake Tower

Would like to hear any comments on bay lake tower standard view. Daughter is considering this for a Sept. trip. The pool area looks really nice for the kids, and having the monorail would be a benifit with the kids and strollers. Anyone who has stayed there how did you like it? Anyone have a standard view area that they liked?

Our last trip..well, with the kids!...was a split stay. We had four nights standard view, four nights lake view. We actually preferred the standard view room! Honestly, we got lucky. Our standard view room was facing the Magic Kingdom. It was obstructed by the monorail track (if you consider that an obstruction, our ten yr. old son considered it a plus!) . We could watch Wishes from our balcony every night!!! It was really wonderful. The pool is awesome...we never had trouble finding a chair or table. The staff there is great with pool parties in the afternoons. We had one night of rain, so we tried going down to the Community Hall for the first time. What a magical night, really. We traded pins, and then rented a movie..for free. (we're DVC members.) We spent that night in our villa, eating snacks and watching Hercules. We had the best time. Sometimes you find Magic in the strangest ways!!!!!

We had a 2BR lake view - we were high up and on the end so the views were gorgeous. We loved it there and look forward to going back next year. The pool was nice, too. The location is really amazing. The monorail is there, and it's a short walk to the Magic Kingdom. The hotel is wonderful and we can't wait to get back.

We absolutely love Bay Lake Tower. We've had a 2-bedroom twice with an MK view -- it's actually hard to pull yourself away from the view to even go into a park. We've also had a studio with a Lake View - - the lake view for us was more like a view of the units across from us (you had to turn your head to the right to see the lake ). The studio was pretty small though - - we're a family of four and it got pretty tight at times.

A friend of mine used my points to stay in a standard view and she said that she had a great MK view!

Good luck!

Jill

Thanks I am surprised that there are such good views as standard even one seeing the monorail would be nice. Daughter is DVC so she is looking into it, but she cant book till Feb she said. Just dont know if we will do 3 studios or the 2 bedroom, it depends on hubby now since the date in Sept may not be good for him. If he doesnt go then she will opt for the 2 bedroom. I was looking at pictures and the pool area the Grandkids would really enjoy. Having the monorail would be great.
I didnt think we would go back for awhile but looking at Bay Lake towers has made me excited and sparked some disney magic in me which I thought I had lost. How is the walk distance wise from the tower to the monorail. We stayed at Poly once in Tihiti building and didnt mind that walk to the main building so anyone that was there and could compair let me know.

We also had a standard room with a MK view. Picture below. They told us that anything below a certain floor is considered standard because the viewing is obstructed.

I love the BLT studios. For my taste, the kitchenette is the best DVC setup because you get LOTS of storage, and we eat in the room for many meals. Some people don't like the fact that the "bathroom" sink is in the same area as the kitchenette, but my family doesn't spend a lot of grooming time (we're wash up and go kind of people), so it doesn't bother me.

One drawback of that kitchenette is that it shrinks the floor space in the living side of the room. When the sofa is pulled out there is about a foot of space between it and the bed, with just a tiny walking lane on the outside of each. There's only about 2 feet between the end of the bed and the TV stand, it's definitely cramped.

So if you are taking a large group, I would go for the 2 bedroom. You'll get the full kitchen, a much larger balcony, the super nice bathrooms, and ROOOM to spread out!

Fireworks from our "standard view" balcony

See how close the couch and bed are?

tkd lisa thanks for the pictures very nice, thoes fireworks the Grandkids would enjoy seeing from the room. I dont think the space between the bed and pull out would be an issue, probably better then the Grandkids would really feel like they were sleeping with us instead of in bed with us.
I dont think Daughter has enough points for a 2 bedroom and studio. It is less points to do 3 studios, She cant even try booking yet, so I am hoping they will have the 3 studios when she can call. Thanks again for posting the pictures of your room and view.

We booked for a lake view studio in November. My DH and I were debating on spending our entire 10 days there or splitting and going to BCV. I don't like the idea of packing up and moving mid-trip. But we kind of wanted to see BCV because of Stormalong Bay. We are actually doing 10 days so we can have extra time to spend at the resort/pools, etc. I told DH that since this is our first year of DVC ownership - we will probably get to use BCV and SAB sometime in the future. I just hope BLT and it's pool live up to my DH expectations. Last Nov we spent a week at ALK with a savannah view = AWESOME!!!! DH just wanted to do that again. I convinced him that maybe we should visit our home resort. So for now the plan is BLT for 10 days. (BCV would be about 30 points less but hey we have it banked.) DH was also saying OKW looked good for alot less. I think anywhere would be wonderful - it IS Disney.
