I am sure this has been answered...This will be my 2nd trip to the WL. Last time we requested a specific room (cant remember what room number though) that was a courtyard view and we were in the South wing at the end of the hall and we could watch the Water Parade from our balcony.
This trip, we have reserved a courtyard view once again but my wife has said that she would like to not be so far from Roaring Forks as it was a hike from our room. From what I have read so far, I have gathered the following info and questions and would appreciate any help that could be given.
1. If I want to be closer to Roaring Fork, I should request to be in the North Wing, correct?
2. If I request to be in the North wing do I also need to specify that I want to have an inner courtyard view?
3. I understand that the 5th floor is generally a good request to make. Is that correct? I would prefer to be higher up.
4. Do I make a general request or request certain rooms?
Any other suggestions or corrections would be much appreciated.
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Be more general "upper floor"
4. I always recommend a general request - There's perhaps a one in four chance that a specific room you want will be vacant on the day you check in. If that particular room (or even floor) is not available, will the room assignor know just why you wanted that particular room? Let them know what features you desire, and let them find a room that fits your needs.

Beware that the top floors in the North wing have solid balcony walls, you can't see out of them unless you stand. Siting you just face a wall Also lets less light in the room, making it kinda dark. We had one of those rooms once, and hated it. Location was good though, lol! We were very close to elevator that went down to Roaring Forks!

OK silly question, looking at the map of the resort, the wing to the left is the south wing? or the north wing? Sorry I just want to make sure we put the proper request in.
We are booked for 2 rooms, but for a standard view in WL. I am thinking that I hope that the resort doesn't put us where the view is the parking lot. I don't mind being so far away from the main lobby. In 2008, we stayed in BC and our room was closer to the back exit of Epcot- but a long walk to the Market Place, we didn't care either!
I know I can call the resort about 3 or 4 days before we arrive and put in a request. I figure if we do get the parking lot, I will just look up and see the trees!..LOL!
Any suggestions?
Thank you if you can give me any. : )
A standard view is pretty much parking lot or rooftops. You can phone now to put a room request on your reservation, but you can't phone WL 3 days in advance of arrival. You will just get the central call center, so you may as well phone now to have any requests put on your res.

I believe that most (all?) of the standard rooms at WL are very close to the lobby. The rooms in the wings are either woods or courtyard views.
And looking up and seeing the trees vs the parking lot isn't a bad "point of view" so to speak . Some of those rooms at WL also have firework views (although slightly obstructed).
