I am looking for any and all info on POR! I know from reading other posts that it is a favorite moderate for most people. We will be booking two rooms, one of which is for my Dmom and Ddad. Dmom has Parkinsons and uses an ECV while at Disney. With price not being an issue, where at POR would you stay? Should we pick location based on Dmom and her ECV (more for getting on the busses than anything else) that would allow us to not have to wait for a 2nd and 3rd bus to fit the ECV? We will definitely be spending time at the theme pool if that matters. I will take any and all info/tips that you have to share
PS. It will probably be during Presidents Week in Feb.
We stayed at POFQ last year and my friend TessaTilli used a EVC and stayed in building 5. We walked back to her room a few times from the pool and it was super close.
This site has a lot of info on POR, incl map so you can see where room locations are in relation to main buildings, food and bus stops.
If you decide to get a preferred room in AB section, the buildings there don't have elevators, so you'd need to request a ground floor. The Mansion section buildings do have elevators, if you want to stay here be sure to request a location near elevator or ground floor.
We prefer the Mansion section for the rooms, I'm just not into the Rustic AB rooms, but that's just me. In the Mansions, both Acadian House & Magnolia Terrace locations close to bridge over to Old Man Island IMO are great locations.
No matter where in the resort you select, make sure you request the first floor or a building with an elevator for medical reasons. Not every building has an elevator.

If you stay at POR, stay in the Mansions section. AB buildings don't have elevators. Have you considereed POFQ? Very compact resort; nothing is more than a 5 minute walk
Thanks Jim, I have but think the kids would enjoy the POR pool more and that's high on our priority list
Thank you all for the advice/direction. I may actually end up requesting a "Florida Special" accessible room for the extra grab bars, might make Dmom feel more secure. She is definitely mobile without the ECV just tires out easily and gets a bit nervous that she MIGHT fall down.
I wonder, when staying at say the Magnolia bldg, is the bus always full by the time it hits the East Depot?? My concern is having to wait for a few buses to fit the ECV. Not that I mind waiting but DS is autistic and would lose his marbles if we had to keep passing up busses.

the preferred rooms in Riverside are in Alligator Boyou and closer to the food/main pool...you may want to request one of those that is also close to a bus stop.
I would definitely note on the reservation that you need a ground floor room for medical reasons...there is also specific language to use when requesting connecting rooms (I believe adjoining just means rooms close together).

We prefer the bus stops in the mansion section, I find them less crowded then the main bus stop. We've always been able to get on a bus and seats. But we go in less crowded times of the year.
I don;t know how crowded Presidents week is or when it is But I've found the only time the busses are crowded is at park closing. And there is a seperate waiting area for EVCs I believe.
