I was wondering if you could assist me again. My brain just won't calm down about my trip and I was thinking about moving my room from a King size bed room at FQ to a Royal Room at Riverside.
Is the bit of extra cost worth it? The rooms look amazing. My main concern so far is the bus system. I know Riverside gets a ton more traffic than FQ.
I can't speak for the room difference but we stayed FQ 2 years ago and we really enjoyed the resort. The bus system was on time and we never waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus. Plus the FQ is separate from Riverside so you shouldn't have to wait very long for return trips from the parks either.

Sorry for not providing more information up front. I will be going from September 9th-14th. I already got the free dining plan discount so I don't think I'd be eligible for a reduced room rate. Also, I am getting a King Bed room so it's already more expensive than a standard room.
My choice would be the Royal Themed room at POR. After the refurb the rooms at POFQ look just like any old hotel room to me. I loved the old bedspreads! The Royal rooms have Queen beds and we never had a problem with buses there.

My recommendation would be for the King Bed at the French Quarter. I LOVE this resort!!! It's small & compact, so it is easy to get everywhere. This resort shares it's buses at times with POR, but ALWAYS picks up & drops off at POFQ first. We just find this resort more quaint and relaxing compared to POR. POR is nice, but it is way too spread out for my taste.

I would always take Riverside over FQ. I have stayed at both and I didn't like the "feel" of French Quarter and actually requested to move. On top of that, I was insulted by a night manager there, so my experience wasn't the best. They acknowledged that she was so inappropriate that they upgraded me to the Wilderness Lodge at no charge and sent a chocolate sculpture, and a bunch of other little perks. This was actually booked through a travel agent, and she was so on top of things that I think she was the main reason for my upgrade and treats. After that we were treated like royalty.
As much as I loved being upgraded to a deluxe, I would have preferred not to have an unpleasant experience at my favorite place.
Because of this, I won't set foot at FQ again, but I'll be in the Royal Guest Rooms in two weeks! Can't wait!
