DVC Split Stay during Thanksgiving

Hi all, we are DVC members and are headed back to the world the week before Thanksgiving. My original travel plans had us staying at BLT 11/9 to 11/14, then moving over to BWV 11/14 to 11/18.

Then I got thinking...the kids have only 2 days of school during Thanksgiving week and I don't have enough vacation days left to do a full week over the summer, but I could extend my stay and get TWO FULL WEEKS at WDW!!! We did this before in Sept/Oct with 2 wks at POP and it was great because the 1st week was run, run, run, see, see, see and the second week was chiiiiiilllllll

But because we are DVC members and our home resort is at BLT and we are inside the 7 month mark and it is Thanksgiving week, I have only been able to WLV for 11/18 to 11/21 then OKW near HH for 11/22 then OKW for 11/22 to 11/24. It totals up to 5 different reservations (4 "moves") over 2 weeks.

Is this too much? I have waitlisted for the whole week at WLV but that is a longshot. My other preference would be to stay the full week at BWV or BCV and will likely try to do a waitlist for BWV. Right now the only full week I can find anywhere is a 1BR villa at OKW or SSR and that uses a lot of points that I hate to spend right now.

Just wondering if anyone has ever done this much jumping around and if we are going to want to kill each other? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

To be honest, it does sound like too many moves. It sounds like you enjoy a combination of active theme park touring and relaxation; with all those moves, it seems that you might need to be preoccupied with keeping track of where you will be sleeping each night.

Last year, we did a split stay between two resorts over an eight-night stay. That was fine, but I honestly don't think I would have been happy with switching resorts more than once.

Good luck with your decision.

I think it sounds like hard work too. Remember you have to be out by 11 (which in practice for us means earlier as we don't want to miss park time) and might only get your next keys at 4.

I would do a single split stay between say BLT and OKW or SSR where there is an excellent chance that your waitlist would come through for the entire period.

You have a lifetime of DVC membership to try all the different resorts. I think you'd be surprised at how much you'd enjoy the change of pace after your stay at BLT.

But to summarise, I think you'll be tearing your hair out with four resort moves .

We've often done this much jumping around. On our last vacation, we did five nights at the Beach Club Villas, then two nights at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. After our Dream cruise, we had two nights at Bay Lake Tower, then three nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, before moving to spend the last two nights in concierge at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

it was a lot of moving around, but so long as you can handle living out of a suitcase and deal with the moves (we had a rental car, so it was no big deal) then it's not really an issue. I'd think about how important it is for you to be settled. If that's a big deal, then that many moves may not work for you.

Well, I bit the bullet and changed to a 1BR at SSR for the last 3 nts. This at least gets it down to 3 moves, at the cost of more points. Also put in a SSR studio waitlist for those 3 nts, so with any luck I might get the points back. Either way I'll be headed to WDW for 2 weeks!! I really can't complain. Now it is on to figuring out my ADR's... Thanks Everyone!

Sounds like a plan! We have split our stays between just two resorts, which was very doable. We started out at BWV, and then moved over to Kidani or Saratoga. It was very easy to take a cab over to the next resort, but we did have to wait for the villa to be ready. I think the kids enjoyed the change of pace. Have fun planning the rest of your trip!!

I agree that staying at 4 different resorts is to much. Personally I like your idea of only staying at Bay Lake Tower & Boardwalk Villas.
