I was so upset when I found out the only standard rooms would be in Little Mermaid. We have 2 boys that will be 3 and 5 when we go next Feb. We stayed in Toy Story last Dec. and they loved it. I just can't see staying in the Little Mermaid with them. Now, I don't know where to stay. Toys again??
Have you seen pictures for the rooms? I don't think they are 'girly'. They might still work for you. You could tell the boys they are under the sea rooms or king tritons rooms or something, maybe?
There's a picture here in case you haven't seen the Little Mermaid rooms: Art of Animation Resort Rooms I don't think they are really girly either. That said, I am surprised that they didn't do the standard rooms in a more neutral theme, like Lion King or Nemo.
I do think they are a bit "girly" - and I'm a girl. Of course, I'm not a girly girl, but I am disappointed that the standard rooms are not more neutral.
I never quite understood why they didn't put some standard rooms in all of the sections. I would love to stay in the Cozy Cone Motel (ie Cars section), but being my trips will only be solo or w/ one other peson, I won't be splurging on a suite.
We were all set to stay in the Cars suite, but then my parents backed out of the trip We just can't afford the suite on our own. I really would have liked to stay in a Cars room, but for a savings of $1200, a standard room will be just fine. We are still staying at AofA, but in TLM section.

I, too, am really disappointed that the standard rooms are only in the Little Mermaid section Either of the other themes would have been fine with me - this is the only one I'm not crazy about at all.
Same here...We wish they had done some standard rooms in at least one other section of the resort. Personally, I question whether they'll actually book THAT many suites. They are twice more than twice the price of a standard room, and with all the pullout/pull down beds involved, frankly a suite isn't that appealing to me. Most of the time from now on, our trips will be just DS and me. All that said, he's okay with booking a LM room and just visiting the other sections of the resort-that is, when we ever get to AoA. First, we need to do AS Sports this trip, then save our $ for DLR in Anaheim for his graduation.
