My question...what requests to put if any? We are staying in the villas at Jambo House in a Savannah View room for the first 7 nights.
Last year we checked in online but did not put down any requests as we really loved our room. It was a savannah view on the 4th floor right near the elevators that led to the pool...we were very happy.
Are there any specific requests that you would recommend?
I know nothing is guarenteed but just not sure if a request was honored what to put. They have close to transportation, Arusha View, Kudu Trail....any suggestions or just check-in and hopefully get another great room like last year.
I enjoyed being next to the elevators...we found it a perfect location but then I have heard wonderful things about the Arusha Savannah looking at the map makes it feel like a much longer walk to the rooms.
Any requests need to be phoned in and attached to your reservation. I believe there's only a very limited request you can do with on line check in.
Have a look at the resort map on line. If you have a savana view (not Arusha view) you'll most likely be on Kudu trail, or on Zebra trail toward the part that has rooms looking toward Uzima Savana.
You can request to be near an elevator, high floor, low floor, etc. depending on your pref.
There is no place on the online check-in form to put specific room view/floor requests. If you have any, you'll have to call and add them to the reservation itself.
Actually it did give you several request boxes to chose from, maybe this is new...the options that they have are:
Arusha View
Kudu Trail
Savannah
5th Floor
Near Transportation
That's good to know. Last month when we did online check-in for Pop, we could choose the section (50s, 60s, 70s...), as well as the standard requests (close to transportation, etc.). I wondered then if they were adding options like that for the other resorts as well. I love online check-in, so I think it's great that they are now allowing more resort-specific requests.
As far as your requests, when we stayed at AKL, we were on the Kudu trail, 4th floor (I think) with an Arusha view. The view was amazing, but it was definitely a hike to the elevators.
Upon arrival, make sure you are not all the way in the back and near a pen that holds the animals.
We stayed at Jambo one year, and we only got to see one animal, whom must have liked us because he stayed in that spot the whole time. Only prob was that we were in a caddy cornered room, which blocked our view and we had a long walk to main lobby.
We stayed there twice. Booked a standard view both times and got upgraded to savannah view both times. The only request I made was to be next to or close proximity to another room of people in our party. (that was pre-online check-in days though and I faxed in the request)
I might send an email to AKL directed to the room assigner. Let them know what room you had last year and that you'd like something similar--give them your floor, distance to elevator and view. It might help
