Right at the end of our last trip, we were outside the Beach Club, waiting for DME when I realised that I didn't have my iPad. I'd last had it round the Villas pool, where Steve covered it with a towel whilst we went for a swim and then we promptly forgot about it, so it's 100 per cent his fault that it was forgotten, but he reckons it's 100 per cent my fault for bringing it out in the first place, but that's irrelevant.
Anyhow, soon as I realised it was gone I ran over to the pool, but it wasn't there and then I ran over to Concierge who directed me to Guest Services who were extraordinarily unhelpful and unsympathetic. I was just told that if anyone had handed it in, it would be with Guest Services and it wasn't so it hadn't, so I hastily scribbled my phone number and email address on a scrap of paper and left (the DME coach was waiting for me and about to leave).
Once we arrived at MCO I had the idea of using Steve's iPhone (same account) to see if I could track the iPad and whilst I hadn't enabled 'location services', I was able to lock my iPad and send it messages, so I kept sending messages saying ' Please hand to Guest Services' and 'I'm missing my mummy!' and I knew they were being delivered as you get an email message back.
We also phone the Beach Club from MCO and was told we would have to contact 'lost and found' and they tried to put me through, but we got an answering machine, so we tried a couple of times and had the same problem.
Once back in the UK we tried again, with no luck, and eventually, I got a little cross with Guest Services and asked if they could kindly contact Lost and Found on my behalf and let me know the outcome. I was put on hold for an eternity and ultimately was put through to the Head of Housekeeping who told me that it had nothing to do with her as it wasn't left in the room and the call should never have been put through to her. Now, by this point I was starting to get a bit miffed. She then told me that the Lost and Found lady doesn't work weekends (my calls had been made between Friday and Sunday night) and she gave me her number and told me to try Monday.
Monday afternoon, we phoned the Lost and Found and my iPad had been handed in. Wonderful...... you'd think......
We gave our credit card info, said that money was no object and asked if they could please express ship it back to us. It's not so much the cost as the fact that I have personal info on there. After 2 weeks we still hadn't received it. So Steve phoned and was told by Lost and Found lady, that she had overlooked it, was apologetic, and said she would ship it out immediately and send us the tracking number the following day. That was last Wednesday and we still haven't heard a thing.
It's getting beyond a joke now. I don't want to start making formal complaints and getting people into trouble, but the whole experience has been less than magical. And I still don't have my iPad.
What would you do?

Oh my, I'm so sorry that this has been such a hassle for you.
My Sarah lost her little purse on a trip one summer, with some cash, her lanyard of pins, and a few other trinkets in it. It was our last day in the parks, and we also figured it was long gone, but had filled out the report at Guest Services. We flew home the next day, but stopped at my in laws for a day or two before we went home, and when I picked up my mail - there was the package!!
I'd be very upset that this hadn't been mailed - especially without the tracking numbers ever being received.
At this point, I'd call again, explain that I didn't have the tracking numbers, and if they cannot produce the tracking numbers immediately on the phone, speak to the manager. Then I would write a formal letter of complaint - this is beyond outrageous. What a sadly unmagical end to your vacation.

I agree, I would talk to some kind of manager. DH left his cell phone @ MCO. we had to jump threw hoops to get that back. But not nearly the problems you are having,
With the amount of items Disney has in lost & found I'm sure they will get to your issue. As other said I would talk to a manager. I know in the buissness I manage asking an employee don't get you what you need. Talk to the manager on duty that day. Here is a link with info I found about the lost and found.
My daughter left her laptop in the room a couple of years ago. Although it took a couple of days for them to locate it as the room was occupied, they did eventually recover it. Then, they totally floored me by mailing it to us at no charge. I think you should definitely talk to the manager and get this straightened out. Definitely NOT Disney caliber service.
What an awful experience! I am so sorry you've had to go through this. I agree with the notion of contacting management. This isn't about a misplaced pair of sunglasses, so I hope someone will expedite the process. I would think management would be accommodating to your issue. I am glad that it was located but I realize that you might not feel any better until you have it back. A friend if mine left her purse on the monorail by accident, and CMs were able to locate it within minutes, but sadly someone removed all the cash from her wallet. I am relieved to hear someone was decent to turn your iPad in. I hope you are reunited with your iPad soon! Good luck!
I would talk to the manager at Lost and Found, not of the hotel - the hotel is out of it now. They don't have the Ipad in their posession and they have no way of knowing what is or isn't going on. For all anyone knows, they could be taking the route of gift shop shipments - making sure it's packaged correctly, etc - and that can take several weeks. I know when I had stuff sent home from Disney, the CM said it would get sent to wherever they package everything that night and that it would only be a few days for me to receive everything. 2 weeks later is when Disney finally mailed it out to me.
I hope you not only get your Ipad but some answers too.
ETA - when I lost my glasses at Disney, I too found it tough to get through to Lost and Found but I kept calling and leaving messages - sometimes that's all you can do, especially when they have a whole building devoted to nothing but Lost and Found (meaning LOTS of people lose things, have to call, etc)
I too have had a not great experience with Disney lost and found. We have lost 2 things at Disney which never were found. 1 was the CARES flying harness which I realized we had forgot when I went to get my daughter ready for the flight home. I called the hotel direct and got the run around for days. I told that right were I left it. They said maybe it ended by it the laundry. If it turns up we will get it back to you they said. I called several times got put on hold, transferred to different places. It was never found. The worst part was I had rented it because I didn't want to buy it because I never thought I would use it again.
I would keep calling them, an iPad is not an easily replaceable thing because it has personnel info on it. I know I would be very upset if I lost mine. Good luck, I hope it arrives back home soon!

I agree that you really need to talk to the manager of the Beach Club. Tell him everything! Also, write a letter of complaint to Guest Services!!!
I am so sorry you have experienced this problem!!!
