We are staying at the Boardwalk when we arrive in 12 days (our first trip!).

So far I have heard:
Get a room close to the elevators
Get a room away from the Promenade. (have an autisic son, who needs quiet to sleep).

Any other suggestions?

I am going to call BW today or tomorrow to make my requests, I was told to call with in about 10 days until our trip to make our requests. I am going to ask for a room that is quiet, with a fan (for white noise - we all sleep with fans here at home), and a room close to the laundry facilities and a room close to my inlaws since they will be there also.

Should I request anything else???

The ceiling fans (I can't remember if the rooms have them or not since it's been awhile since our last stay there) will not give you any white noise. You may want to bring a small fan with you.

I will say that our room at BWI was the quietest we've ever had at WDW. I don't know if it's just that we had very quiet neighbors or if the rooms are better insulated. We stayed in a Standard room on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard and not too far from the elevators (sorry, I have no idea of the room number).

I don't think we were anywhere near the laundry though. And personally, I don't think I'd put that as a request. The laundry rooms in the resorts aren't generally in the nicest areas and get a lot of foot traffic in the hallways.

I guess I will bring enough clothes so we don't have to do it! We were just wanting to pack as light as possible so our suitcases are not so heavy! LOL

The Boardwalk itself can be a tad loud at night. We had a balcony room right over the bakery and there was a lot of fun being had by the ESPN patrons... a guy was singing at the top of his lungs for quite some time, but that isn't the norm. We've stayed at BWI a collective 20 days and that incident was just one night. Perhaps steer clear of rooms overlooking the Boardwalk?

And yes, the hallways are soooooo loooooong! Seems like we do most of our walking just in the BWI hallways, not the parks!

Oh, and i'm not sure if they still do this, but the Bellvue lounge offered baked goods and fruit in the morning. It's similar as hitting the bakery in the morning, minus the long lines. Again, not sure if they still do this??? Ya, we found that out on our last morning!
Can anyone confirm or deny this info?

You can inquire with Housekeeping about a box fan. They may have some. I don't know for sure though.

I still think you can do laundry, I just don't think it's worth asking to be near it. We do laundry when we stay for a week. We take it down in a laundry bag, bring a book to read while it washes and dries and then fold it and bring back to the room.

On the 3rd floor of the Boardwalk Inn there is a laundry room accessible only to Inn guests via their room keys. There are three washing machines, one commercial sized washing machine, and six clothes dryers. Each of these machines costs $2 a load to run. Additionally there is a television, a large table on which to fold your laundry, two chairs, three rolling laundry baskets, a telephone and a vending machine selling laundry supplies (Tide, Cheer, Bounce (2 sheets), Clorox 2) at a cost of $1 per box.

I've stayed at the BWI 2x so far, and it is a huge resort. If you can get near the elevators, do so. Also, last year we had a balcony room right over Kat Kora's head (the sign for Kouzzina), and you really couldn't hear much of the goings-on on the Boardwalk when your doors were shut. The only thing I really heard was the horn on the Friendship boats & the bins on rollers the maintenance people were pushing. But that was also early in the morning when I was up anyway... Love the BWI!

The laundry room is nice and clean, very convenient and hardly ever busy when I went. (If you need to do laundry, go during the day when everyone else is out playing. avoid mornings and nights.) Normally I wouldn't worry about laundry on vacation, however, we usually stay in WDW for 10 day stints.... too long to not do laundry!
Oh, and to save a few bucks, bring dryer sheets (I cut mine in half), and your own detergent (A&H makes those individual pouches of detergent).

We ate breakfast several mornings in the lounge area. It was good! and I will totally agree.....L O N G hallways!! We got lost several times!! LOL by heading down the wrong long hallway!
