My dh and I are planning a getaway sometime in May......we r going to stay at a moderate. Can I have opinions on both of these resorts please??? Thanks!!!
I have never stayed at the Carribean Beach but I have stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter 4 times including my honeymoon and I absolutely love it. It is very romantic and smaller than the other moderate hotels which is important because it is close to the food court no matter which building you are in. I would recommend it to anyone but especially to couple traveling alone.

Seriously, it is the compactness of a deluxe resort -- nothing is too far away. We found it very romantic as well. And transportation from here was great --
I'm trying to figure out your dates -- sometime in March?
It'll be crowded and the smaller resort and better bus service make all the difference. I vote POFQ all the way. In fact, it's my favorite resort we've tried so far! (We stayed in CBR for our honeymoon in 1990 and it was VERY spread out and took some serious walking to get places.)
POFQ "pros" - great pool, convenient bus service, lovely boat ride to DTD and the general ambience! I think you'd really like it.
Eileen we are probably going Thurs. May 26th thru Mon. May 30th. Believe me I would rather not go memorial day weekend but My inlaws will be in town the week b4 for thier daughter graduation from Julliard so they can watch the kids the following weekend.
I have never stayed in POFQ but stayed in CBR in 91 and I loved CBR. It is my fave resort along with the Coronado. I loved the feel of the CBR, loved the lake I walked along everyday on the way to breakfast and on the way back from the parks. I loved the hammocks you could lay around in and relax.
I've never been to POFQbut I've heard it's very small and imtimate, which might be fine if you're travelling alone with your husband. It's supposedly very romantic and everything is only a short walk away.
We stayed at the CBR in 1992 and I LOVED it! I loved the lake, the game room, the hammocks - all of it! But then again, when we went in 1992 I was only 5 so that's why I loved all that stuff. There was also plenty of room for my brother and I to run around - the resort is HUGE and it's quite a walk (or even a drive) to get to some parts of the resort. If it will just be you and your husband I'd go for POFQ - although both are gorgeous!
We just returned from our first stay at POFQ and we loved it. It's a beautiful, compact resort. We loved the pool and everything was a short walk away. I would also recommend taking a stroll over to POR and taking a carriage ride one evening. The ride goes all around POR and POFQ. It's really nice and romantic.
