two beach club rooms or a two-bedroom beach club villa?
Hi!
My husband, 5 yo son, and I are leaving this Saturday 2/1 for a week long trip to the beach club resort with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law. We have two standard view rooms and are considering switching to a two bedroom villa if any are available when we go. So far ther are none available at the annual pass rate but we are hoping that of there are any available they will switch us anyway.
What are the benefits of staying in the rooms vs. staying in the villas? Should we stay in the two standard rooms or attempt to move?
Any suggestions would be helpful. My in-laws are not looking forward to the trip they think that I am a Disney nut and do not believe me when I tell them that they will love Disneyworld.
I must confess that I am a bit of a Disney nut.
Thank you,
Regina
P.S.: My brother-in-law and his family will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort at the same time and might come to visit us at the Beach Club but are more likely to meet us in the parks each day instead.

Hi!
Welcome to the boards!
I would definitely recommend trying to get a two bedroom vacation home at BCV. They have so many extras, compared to standard rooms at the Beach Club.
According to my member's pack, the extras are DVD player, washer and dryer with a start up pack of laundry detergent (so you don't have to pay to do your washing), a complete kitchen of major appliances (so if you don't want to pay out for food, you don't have to, you can cook something instead or even just have coffee etc. in your room), dishware, dishwashing supplies and oh, the master suite has a whirlpool tub!
When we were at Disney last month, we saw a two bedroom vacation home at BCV and they are superb. Good luck - I hope you're able to move over there!

P.S. My mum was convinced on her first trip to WDW that she wouldn't like it. She loved it!!
Re: two beach club rooms or a two-bedroom beach club villa?
I doubt you can get a two-bedroom villa for anything approaching the rate you're paying, but if you can come close, go for it.
Yes, the laundry and kitchen facilities are great, but the real benefit for a family trip such as yours is the socializing space that comes with that living room. You'll have a far more family-oriented experience than you could have with two regular hotel rooms. Even if you don't cook in, you may want to stock the fridge for light breakfasts and cocktail hour, or the "dry" equivalent. With two regular rooms you'll want to get out into public places more often, as hanging out in a bedroom is, well, hanging out in a bedroom.

Dave is right about price, but you may be able to purchase DVC points directly from members (I have only done this with friends, but there are boards that have members list if they have points to sell). Ive seen $10+ a point which is better than the nightly published rates, but it depends on the time of year you are going. Maybe someone else has the exact board/website..it is not the official DVC members site, that I know.
We are members (1994@OKW) and are trying BCV for the first time this June. If you do get BCV, the amenitites will trap you in!
