Has anyone ever used one of the DVC resellers to sell points? DW and I were reviewing the number of points we have compared to how we vacation. As it stands we have about 100 more points than we can use without getting too much of a good thing.
I've never sold DVC points, but I have purchased points from a broker. I do know you can only sell them by the contract amount. Ex: You can not sell 100 points off a 300 points contract. We have 3 contracts, VWL-200, VWL-70 & OKW-210. We could sell any one of them though.
If you do sell, shop them for their commission rates.
It is funny that you should bring up this topic ,Craig, because it has been raging all week over on the DIS Boards(They have a DVC discussion site and a sales/rental board). There are folks there that really have MEGA points-in the 1000s range! The debate has been between those that see the DVC as extra income, buying up points at any and all resorts and renting them out, and those that look at it as I think was intended,a way to have enjoyable family vactions.Let us know what you decide. It would be interesting to know your vacation patterns in realtionship to the number of points that you own;it could provide valuable information for those of us who are currently members and who hear of others who are buying more, as well as for those who are thinking of making the initial plunge!

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Wow, and I thought we were doing well with our 165 point purchase. The only way we'd be able to afford 1000's is if we won the Lottery!
Cheryl, I think the guys with the Mega points are the ones that are using the DVC as a business.I have noticed that no matter where somebody wants to stay, these guys always have a contract and points available.I wish Disney could crack down on this because this was not the oringinal intent of the planners.
Stonewall,
I think the only way they could do that would be to not allow anyone to sell points. I always use my points so it wouldn't bother me, but it may hurt others who are just trying to recoup from unused points.
