I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

Hi all,
I am having a real hard time trying to decide where to stay. I already have my plane tickets ( we aren't leaving until March 23, 2007) but I can't make up my mind where to stay. I like concierge, we save so we can splurge on a vacation. My kids are older 19 and 16 so I am feeling family vacations are nearing an end. I want this to be the best. I had my heart set on the Contemporary, but then started reading and seeing a bunch of neat things about the beach club. Any ideas, pros and cons of both. I will be booking as soon as the vacation package rates come out.
Thanks Janet K

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

Contemporary CL - Lounge is always open
BC CL - Lounge closes between servings

Contemporary CL - THE VIEW!!!
Beach CL - ok- hard for any other CL to beat the Contemporary view though

Beach - Great pool- best on property
Contemporary has a nice pool, hard to beat Stormalong Bay

Beach- Walk to Epcot- and MGM(but is a trek)
Contemporary-Walk to MK ; monorail to MK and Epcot

Contemporary 14th or 12th floor views- either MK view or Baylake view are nice and each have their fans. Basically, no bad view from Tower
Beach- Standard view can have you looking out over a parking lot, definately splurge for water view here.

Contemporary - 14th floor does not have that many rooms- very personalized service and the lounge is really never crowded. 12th floor- don't know about they are in process of adding lounge.
Beach Club- Lounge can become crowded.

Hope this helps. Good Luck

Thank you, yes that does help a lot. The main reason for me wanting to go to the Beach Club was the pool and it is a little cheaper. I have stayed at the Boardwalk before and know how nice the walk to Epcot is. My favorite park is Magic Kingdom, the families is Epcot. I am leaning more and more toward Contemporary.
Thanks again

We stayed at the Contemporary Concierge level only once. It was very nice and having access to the extra snacks during the day if you were back at your room was great. Haven't booked concierge level again - we really don't take advantage of all that it has to offer. It is terrific, don't get me wrong. Good Luck with your choice!!

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

I'd do Beach Club with a 19 and 16 year old as the pool looks like a lot of fun... I think the grounds at the Contemporary are not as nice as most on property hotels... Sure--the convenience to Magic Kingdom is great at the CR... but your kids are old enough that it doesn't really matter if you have to hop a bus... I have three small ones (2, 4, 6) and I chose BC because it is more convenient to lots of dining options... and we spend a lot of time at EPCOT...

I think there is more to be offered at BC for teenagers... and that the monorail convenience at all that important as they get older... I think you'd have lots of family fun at Stormalong Bay...don't you??? I hear great reviews about the Concierge level at BC too...

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

We love CR, and are staying there for the second time with our children this March / April. One of the biggest reasons we love it is for the convenience - we spend a lot of time at MK and EPCOT, so we enjoy having the monorail at the resort. But I think when our children get older, we might try the Beach Club.

deciding! I think either resort would be a wonderful choice.

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

We have been to both, and I would probably head towards the BC, as in March, MK closes earlier than it does at other times. Also, there is so much fun activity going on at the BW that your older kids would love, and you could relax (somewhat ) knowing they are only a walk away from your rooms! Also, a HUGE plus for us is avoiding that madhouse run to catch a monorail after Illuminations! How lovely to saunter with a more moderate crowd, perhaps sipping a beverage, as you stroll towards your beautiful resort! That is also our feeling after Fantasmic! That 10 minute walk is perfect after sitting and waiting/watching the show.

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

I've never done concierge at either hotel. But i can tell you that the BC is awesome, especially if you like Epcot.
BC is walking distance to so many things, the BW, the Swan/Dolphin, the YC, Epcot. Many options.

Another plus for BC, like another poster said, after Illuminations you don't have to wait in that huge line to get the monorail, just stroll leisurely back to your hotel.

Since your children are older you might want to seriously consider BC. I'd base it on what their favorite park is, perhaps. My teens had an awesome time at BC, loved the pool and loved being able to walk to Epcot to ride Test track one more time, LOL.
Good luck deciding

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

Everyone has been great with their ideas. Just when I think I have made up my mind something changes it. I do know my gets and husband want to try parasailing. I will need to have one of those adult drinks is they do try it. My real goal is to go to all the Disney resorts, maybe I will have to come back the following year for the resort I don't choose. As far as the concierge goes I really want to feel taken care of. I was at Polynesian last year and did not feel that way. I had to have a special diet (no wheat) and one of the Chef's made me feel iike I was a burden. I really didn't get much to eat there. I was at Boardwalk a few years ago and was treated well. So we will see, I wish there was a way to talk to the hotels before I book. I was promised alot from Polynesian, but didn't get anything.
Thanks all Janet

Re: I can\'t make up my mind Beach club concierge of Contemporary concierge

Welcome to Passporter Janet!

Good luck in your decision - I'm going to go against the crowd, and say that I agree with you, and feel that the Contemporary might be better for you.

I've never stayed at the CR concierge level, but I have at AKL and the Poly, and I agree with you. While the Poly was nice - it didn't have that magical, luxurious feel. The food/beverages at the lounge had a major cafeteria feel to it. The AKL concierge staff and lounge, however, were wonderful!

I have 2 teens, 15 and 17 on our last trip, and they love the Contemporary! While the pool is nicer at the BC, and the access to Epcot is nice - my girls loved the Contemporary for the shopping and the arcade for their downtime. Amanda liked being able to work out in the exercise room, and then go for a run around the grounds. The walk to the MK is great, and my girls, while they love Epcot, and Amanda likes MGM (Jennie doesn't like deep thrill rides - she'll ride Space/Splash - that's her limit.), really like the traditional MK attractions - and while Epcot closes at 9 - MK is often open later. If your family is parasailing - you'll be at the CR anyway - I'd just hang there. Just my opinion of course.

Good luck with your decision - they are both great options.

Both are great resorts but I'd vote for BC. Can't beat the location
