CRS-the Good the Bad and the Ugly This is a response to a question posted on another thread by JennyM. A mini report on my stay at CSR. The good, the bad, and yes, the ugly. I will start by saying that CSR is my least favorite of the moderate resorts of the three I have stayed at. CBR and POFQ are the other two. I am glad that we picked this resort for a short stay. The good things were we had a non-smoking room in the Cabanas building 8A, a quiet corner room, close to the bus stop and the Dig Site. We got a free upgrade which may or may not have to do with the poem I faxed to the room assigner ahead of time. The reason I feel it may have been the fax was that I had mentioned the Cabanas and building 8A or 8B in my request. The bad was (and I know this sounds ridiculous) there was no view. Also the room was very “used”. Carpet was older looking, paint on the furniture was chipped, and the doors on the TV. cabinet wouldn’t close correctly. We ate a light meal at Pepper Market and it was just okay. The drinks were good but expensive and small. We managed a quick dip in the pool at the Dig Site one night and there we no clean towels anywhere to be found. There were, however, plenty of dirty towels all over the pool area. The Dig Site would be a nice area for a family with kids to spend an afternoon though. The ugly all centers on housekeeping. Let me preface this by saying I have always had good, and many times wonderful, housekeeping at the WDW resorts. When I have read of others claiming to have poor service I will admit I was skeptical. Well now I am a believer. In entering our room the first time we found smears on the mirror, a sticky substance on the table, and a comb on the floor. Also there were three of us in the room and there were only enough towels for two. The thing that finally pushed me to call housekeeping was when we needed to use the potty (sorry if this is too much information ) and I kid you not there were only about 6 squares of toilet tissue and no extra roll anywhere. This is when I finally called housekeeping. The women who answered had a hard time understanding English. I do not say this to be mean but that is the honest truth. While I had her on the phone I also requested more towels. The items were delivered, including a pile of towels and washcloths. The next night when we got back to the room all the extra towels were taken away and we were back to towels for two! Very frustrating. Oh and while I mentioned the dirty comb to housekeeping it remained on the floor for the duration of our time there. We didn’t move it and just left it there to see how long before someone would actually pick it up. They do vacuum the carpets don’t they? We had an issue with our bill but I won’t go into that here. I realize this was just our experience and maybe not the norm but I will continue to try other resorts and will not go back to CRS again.

Re: CRS-the Good the Bad and the Ugly Thanks for the reply to my question about the resort. Now I am a little scared...it is so hard to pick a resort! We actually still have our reservations to POR too...haven't got around to cancelling yet. The reason we are changing is a huge savings due to the fall special which ends on the day we arrive! But I guess you can have a bad experience anywhere(?). I just hate to see people spending so much money for a trip and have things like your experience happen! for the information!

Re: CRS-the Good the Bad and the Ugly We had not the greatest experience at CSR either, although I love the other three moderates. Even though ours was a long time ago, I just can't bring myself to go back when I have loved every other hotel so much.

Re: CRS-the Good the Bad and the Ugly We stayed at the CSR in late March and had wonderful housekeeping in the Casitas section. Some of the best we've had. Our concerns about cleanliess were at the Contemporary, where the halls were a mess. I would not hesitate to stay at the CSR again. Perhaps housekeeping was short staffed that weekend? I know others have sang the praises of the Contemporary. I would talk to the resort manager, although you probably should have done so while you were down there. We had a slight problem with out bill (an extra day of high speed internet) and the clerk quickly checked it and took it off the bill. We once stayed overnight at a REsidence Inn and the housekeeper had forgotten to replace the towels in one bath and I had to dry off with hand towels as I hadn't noticed the lack of towels before I showered. When we checked out the manager asked how our stay was, I mentioned the towel problem and she comped half my bill. It's much harder to do something about it once you've checked out. Diane
