Hilton Honors and DD Hilton

My husband and I are Hilton Honors Gold Plus members and we are staying at the DD Hilton in late Sept. for the first time. Usually we are offered an upgrade by Hilton Hotels if there is one available, or free breakfast if there's not. I read a post on another board by a HH Diamond member who said this hotel gave them neither. Anyone here HH Gold and have this experience?

I can't help you on this one. But I sure would like to know the answer too. We are booked for January in the DS using HH, since my husband is a diamond member. I am really counting on an upgrade (althoug I've heard breakfast is awful). Hope you have a great time. Please post your impressions on the hotel when you come back.

I don't know the answer to this. If it were me, I'd call the hotel directly and ask what their policy is. (Make sure you write down who you talk to and when you called if they say that they do upgrade or give breakfast, so that you can refer to your call if there is any problem at check-in).

Thanks!

I appreciate your suggestion about calling the hotel directly. I never thought of it because I've never had to! This is supposed to be an automatic benefit of Hilton Gold and Diamond, but maybe not every employee is aware of that. Thanks again.

It might also be because of it's location; they might not feel obligated to.

Back in the day, I used to work with the Hilton Corporation. At that time, not every Hilton 'honored' the Honors program. So, calling them directly is the best way to find out if indeed they participate.

Talking Update!

I called Hilton Honors today and asked whether DD Hilton participates in offering upgrades, and I was told that upon availability they are supposed to. So, I will be sure to ask when I arrive. Also, I have rebooked this room three times! The rate started at $169 and is now down to $99! I am still watching up until we go. It is not even worth using 40,000 points at this rate because for that many points I can get two nights at a Hampton (around $200) and I am also getting double points and double miles for my stay.
