Old Key West

Does anyone know if the Old Key West resort has recently been refurbished? I have read many reviews on other sites that have not been very favorable and was wondering if anyone has stayed there recently.

Thanks.

I don't recall any recent refurbishment, but we stayed there in October 2006 and loved it there.

I haven't heard of the rooms beiong refurbished either, but we were there last year (and will be going again in June).

OKW is a beautiful resort. I don't see why anyone would give it an unfavourable review.

I think they're in the process of refurbishing the rooms. When I stayed there in January (South Point) I found the mattress much firmer than usual. And we had a DVD player in our room, not a VCR.

And when we were there in January I believe they were painting the buildings at Turtle Pond.

We've stayed at OKW every year for the past 15 years (it's our home resort) and have never had a complaint. We love it there.

I had read several of those reviews before our last trip and got nervous too. Our room was fine, everything was clean and in good working order and we loved OKW, we would stay there every time if the budget allowed.

Don't worry.

I know they refurbished the main pool in 2004 or so, and they upgraded from VCR's to DVDs. I also remember hearing that some of the appliances were being upgraded, but that's about it.

We LOVE OKW! Remember that someone who has a bad experience will be more likely to write about that then all the others who have a good experience!

We were in a 2 bedroom unit at OKW in '04 and it was really nice. It over looked one of the holes on the golf course. The balcony was huge. We reallly loved it.

We love OKW also. We are staying in a Grand Villa in October and was in a two bedroom there last year. We have never had a problem with anything. If there was a problem it was taking care of. I think that one year the dishwasher broke but it was fixed right away. Its always clean and the cleaning staff have always been very friendly.
