Activities or secrets for POR?

Hi everyone! So our trip is approx 38 days out now and I was wondering what are some tips anybody could give me for POR? We will be staying for 9 days and probably will end up doing some activities at the resort. I've been collecting tips like about the fishing pond, bike riding, etc, but wanted to know if anyone has any other little known "secrets". I've read that there is a butterfly house there. Has anyone tried that? Also how is the arcade (DS14 insisted I ask that )? Does it have the latest games, size, etc? One more thing, does anyone have any updated info on how the busses are running?

We just returned from POFQ. Shared buses to Epcot and DHS, but not MK. HUGE line at Epcot closing for POR/POFQ. We ended up taking a taxi for $10 back to the resort.

I don't think the butterfly house is there anymore, but there might be a garden. The carriage rides are really cool. Take the boat to DTD. Walk or rent a bike and ride over to POFQ for a look around. It's a beautiful resort!

Thumbs up

Be sure and do at least one breakfast at Boatwright's. Dinner you don't have to bother with.

Oh, and go over to FQ for some hot, fresh beignets.

We love to rent bikes while we are at POR! The boys love to toot the horn and people always wave to them

Thanks for the responses! I really hope the butterfly house is still open. I was looking forward to that. Maybe the yummy beignets will make up for it though!

There is a very entertaining piano player in the lounge at PORS named Bob Johnson. He is entertaning for children and adults, if you get a chance to see him one night, I promise you will not be disappointed. Have a great time, it is our favorite resort.

I loved POR. I definitely agree to leave time to just wander about the place. It's so beautifully landscaped! DD2 just loved wandering around and looking at everything. She was absolutely enthralled with the water wheel.

There's a dock you can fish off of, which looked fun (if you're into fishing, lol).

I loved the pool.

Boatwrights for breakfast is REALLY good.

DD loved waving at all of the people on the surrey bikes. So when you go past kids, ring your bell! LOL! Those bikes look like so much fun!

It's just a beautiful resort.

OH and if you can, get pizza delivery one night and get the chocolate cake for a dessert. YUM. Seriously good chocolate cake.

We just returned from POFQ on May 10th, and I'll second the bus comment. That was the worst part of our 1st trip to WDW. We also took a cab back from Epcot on the night of May 6th. The line for POFQ was HUGE - and NONE of the other resorts were like that. We also waited a long time for buses from POFQ to the parks. On Friday the 9th we had two buses each for AK, Epcot, and Hollywood before we got one to MK. That was at 5pm.

We ended up taking cabs 5 or 6 times during the week because the buses were so bad.

I hate to hear about the buses. I hope in Sept. it will not be that bad.

Thanks again for all the advice and comments! I think I will definitely put some money in our budget for taking a few cab rides. (With DH's patient limits, it will probably be more than a few .)
