Poly or Wilderness Lodge?

Please help me make up my mind between these two fabulous hotels! We are going in May 09' for 7 nights- 4 nights at either Poly or WL and 3 at AKL. My husband said we could stay wherever I wanted, but I am so torn! I think the WL is just prettier (and cheaper!) from the pictures I have seen, but the Poly has the monorail. We are planning on dining at both resorts and using a kids club, so they both fit the bill- what do ya'll think??

I have not stayed at the Poly would like to one day but like you said it is more expensive. But where will you be spending most of your time?? If it is MK then I would probably go for Poly for the monorail. Yes you can do the boat to MK but it stops at Fort Wilderness, nice ride and all, at night though there are bugs at the dock area so that is a consideration. I like both the boat rides and monorail and dont mind the wait, buy you may.

Wow, you've got two very nice choices there! Out of the two, I've only stayed at the WL and absolutely loved it. However, when we went to dine at the Poly, I thought it felt more like a deluxe resort than the WL somehow. I'd love to stay there once as well but as it is kinda expensive, we'll probably always opt against it.

So, if you can swing it, I'd definitely give the Poly a try! Especially since you'll be staying at AKL before that. The WL has a similar feel to it as the AKL despite the different theming, IMO. After all, they're both lodges And being on the monorail does have it's advantages if you'll go to the MK a lot. The boats are nice but not quite as efficient as the monorail.

Have fun deciding!

I'd pick the Poly in a heartbeat over WL if I had the choice!

I like them both, but have stayed at WL more often because of the pricing. The kid's club at the Poly is the largest and my kids loved it when they were younger. Good luck deciding.

If you think the WL looks better than the Polynesian by looking at the photos than it sounds like you don’t like the theme of the Polynesian and you should pick the WL.

I myself enjoy the tropical feel of the Polynesian over the “camping” feel of the WL. Both are very nice resorts and have great food options. What you will be giving up at the WL is much larger rooms, better transportation options and easy access to other resorts.

You will be saving money staying at the WL so that would be another reason to stay there.

I vote for the Poly as well. The monorail is a real plus. You didn't mention the ages of your kids but it is wonderful to be able to hope on the monorail from MK to give them a nap and then go back. The kids club at the Poly is also my favorite. That being said- I also love WL. I don't think you would go wrong with either but my choice would be Poly. Good Luck deciding!!

Talking

I stayed at the WL and fell in love with it. However, if budget permits I would stay at the Poly in a heart beat- just to try a different flavor.

I don't think that you could wrong with either resort. I'd say that if it were me, I'd go with the Poly due to the nearness of TMK and because of the monorail.

Thank you all so much for your opinions! For someone that has never seen either resort, it is so awesome to hear feedback. I have decided to stay at the Poly, due to the monorail and the kids club. I think we will just enjoy dinner at Artist Point to check out WL. Thank you all again for your feedback and great observations! This board rocks!!!

That's a hard choice. I've been to the Poly for dinners & strolled around & it's a beautiful resort. Monorail or boat choices. I've stayed at WL & love it. Another beautiful resort. Boat to MK is alot of fun. When we stayed last Jan the boat was direct to MK, didn't stop at Ft. Wilderness. I didn't feel there was a camping feeling at WL, but everyone has different views, & takes away different experiences. Either choice, you can't go wrong.
