Boardwalk Inn ?????

We are planning a December trip to Wilderness Lodge around Christmas...

Only our flight schedule has CHANGED! Ahh!
Which means eliminated a day of our already short 4-day vacation.

We have been looking online and found some reservations for Free Dining at Boardwalk Inn for the end of summer... we can save $600, add a day, and get cheaper flights!

Only I am nervous! What do you think about this resort? Is it true you can walk to Epcot and MGM? Is it worth the money? Weve never stay deluxe- only value and mod.

Any info would be a BIIIIG help!

Melissa

in a short two words, yes and yes. have never stayed at boardwalk, but usually always stay across the lake at yacht club. you will love the ease of walking to epcot (about 5 mins walk) and hollywood studios (about 10 min walk). i would stay at boardwalk if yc was unavailable. however, it is your choice about the date changes. i personally would not want to miss out on the christmas stuff...i would just be so sad. however, maybe you come every christmas and are ready for a break. 600 bucks is a lot of money, plus you get an extra day. nice perk i think.

Our recent stay was at the BW. It is a great resort. I love the quiet pool and hot tub. It takes a few minutes to sprint down for a pizza or a corn dog for a quick meal. There are restaurants all around the boardwalk plus the added perk of walking to Epcot where you have the world of restaurants! MGM is a further walk, but there is a ferry boat that will take you there (and Epcot too).

But saving $600, adding a day and cheaper flights? I'd sign right up!

We stayed there for the first time in December and loved it - much more than we thought we would. It's in a great location and the theming there is beautiful. I thoroughly recommend it.

I agree completely with Chez. We had the same experience (stayed there in December and loved it much more than we thought we would.) In fact, I'm even thinking of buying a small BWV contract in a few years. You can walk to Epcot and DHS with ease (and it's usually quicker than the boat). Great food, fun nightlife, I think you will enjoy it!

We went in January and got to see a lot of the Christmas shenanigans BUT I overall really liked WDW at that time and wanted a chance to see some new things like Castle lights and Candlelight Processional. But I cant fathom being there for only 4 days (including our arrival and departure days) AND paying about $1000 more in flights. That ends up being more like a $1600 savings!

Glad to hear there is a ferry. I don't know how Rob would feel about the walk to MGM-- he is not a lover of the heat! lol!

I am going to talk to Rob when he wakes up and just get it out of the way- if he goes for it I am going to switch... i think. (LOL- Another switch- I better PIF so I don't have to deal with it)

Thanks! How big is it as far as room locations and whatnot?

Wow! You sound so impressed with it! I have seen some great pics thanks to P-Sha and the other fab TR writers here. We only went to Boardwalk once and it was so Rob could use the fitness club and I wandered, but I only vaguely remember the resort itself.

We LOVE BWI!! It's one of my fave resorts, taking a very close second to Poly.

You can easily walk to EPCOT in a few minutes. If you have park hoppers, we walk to EPCOT, go through it, hop on the monorail, and go to MK.
You can also walk to DHS, BUT - it's about a 15 to 20 minute walk. We prefer taking the boat that is located in back of the resort.

The theming is beautiful and the staff is great.

Since it saves you money, and you get to stay for longer, I wouldn't hesitate.

We stayed at the BWI for the first time in April and really liked it--more than I expected. So much of our pleasure was the access to Epcot and the Studios. And if you cut past the theme pool, it is really not a much longer walk to the Studios than Epcot. The Inn itself is not as spread out as the Villas.

We also enjoyed the entertainment nightly on the Boardwalk.

I put some pictures in our TR (just click the link and scroll about 40% of the way down):

I really would take advantage of the offer. While the world is magical at Christmas I know how much you really have wanted this trip and I think you should definitely go for the Boardwalk. What's the worst that can happen? You end up not liking the resort and decide not to stay there again?

The location is great. I mean, you are so close to Epcot and they have the wonderful night life that you can dance to. There will be lots of romantic evening walks. Sitting on the beach, the sounds of a boardwalk in summer... and so much more.

I think you'll be very happy.

Anyway, I'd stay there it looks nice. The clown slide does freak me out, however.

I'd make the switch Melissa! Even though the weather is really, really HOT...think of what you can do with those savings!! (you were looking forward to that Disney kitchen section at World of Disney, weren't you??)
with you decision!

It's gorgeous and conveniently located!! I'm sure that you will love it, and I hope that you go for the change. Just stayed there in Feb. and thought that it was fabulous, after a December vacation at the Polynesian (loved loved loved the Poly too!). You won't be disappointed with the Boardwalk, I'm sure. Enjoy!!!!

Well, I'm glad I found this - cuz now I know your two little pieces of breaking news!!! If I had the chance to stay at BWI while saving money, I wouldn't even have to ask about it, really . . . . I would LOVE to stay at an Epcot area resort as that is my fave park. I'm pretty sure you already know the answer to your question, Mel.
