Wink Why do you love the OKW?

I'm so curious to find out why so many of you love the OKW. I have stayed or visited almost all of the resorts except OKW - because it's kind of off the beaten path, but as I'm reading more threads, I keep coming back to so many of you raving about the OKW. So, please tell me (be specific) why you love it. I really want to stay at the AKL soon, but I may change my mind.

We found it to be very laid back and relaxing in its theming - we loved all the pastel shades and it just felt like a little community.

The rooms are huge compared to the other resorts. The landscaping is very mature and it is very laid back in atmosphere. It is very spread out and there isn't much Disney theming so if those are drawbacks for you, don't stay there. However, we love it because of all the above mentioned items. It's nice to get away from the sensory overload that a day at the parks can give you.

One thing I love is the way it's set up where you walk in from the outside, park right outside your building (if you have a car), walk around outside on the sidewalks, almost like a little town feel.

The size of the rooms, the laid back feeling of the resort and the fact that its a relaxing boat ride away from DTD.

atmosphere - it feels like a community - not a resort - some people love this others hate it.

the gym is tiny - others dislike this alot - since we have fewer members who use it - not a problem.

lately they have changed the drinks - you can get your mug refilled without standing in line.

the quiet pools are generally quiet. lots of time we were the only one there.

Florida - if you love Florida - this is one DVC resort that looks like it belongs in Florida.

the friendly CM's.

the landscaping - it is pretty on the whole.

nice place for walking, swimming, biking, etc.
