I need resort convincing

I've always stayed at values, except for 1995 when my family stayed at the Ft. Wilderness Cabins. Well I waited a few days too late to book my New Year's package and got POFQ. (I saw on money Pop was available, but didn't have the money to book until yesterday)

We don't plan on spending much time in the room, and plan to be in the parks everyday from almost open to close. I've look at pictures and FQ looks okay, but there is no big jukebox for me to name a song as we head into our room. I also notice that there is no bus que like at the values. Which worries me at Holiday time because I worry that people who just walk up will get on and those of us waiting for a long time will get stuck standing or not on the bus at all. I also wonder if the bus service is okay, or if we're going to need to drive to the parks? We've never driven to the parks when staying on property and don't really want to durning peak season.

Thank you for your input.

I've stayed at POFQ a couple of times and I really like it. I haven't had trouble with the buses and the boat to DTD is a nice feature. As for the queu for the buses, it's not really a formal line, so yes, there have been instances where people who came after us ended up ahead of us in line (like if I was sitting on the bench with DD). It's never been a huge problem, but we've been there at non-peak times, so I don't know how it'd be with big crowds.

With all that said, if you aren't going to spend a lot of time at the resort and you really like Pop, I'd keep trying for it-- or what about one of the All Stars?

I love POFQ. It is a beautiful, small resort. There is one bus stop with 2 different boarding areas. I have never had a problem with the lines. Yes, occasionally people who come later get at the front, but it isn't usually a problem, since the resort is small and crowds don't get huge. The busses usually go on to POR and continue to pick up people before heading to the parks (unless they are full, of course). As mentioned, the boat to DTD is wonderful.

The nice thing about the buses at Port Orleans, French Quarter is usually first to be picked up on the bus routes. As far as the resort it is a nice little resort and you almost feel like you're strolling through a section of New Orleans. Everything is extremely convient too, and you get the bonus of getting to use Riverside pools too.

Thanks for asking....I am staying at POFQ in October! I was wondering about the buses. Bus service is extremely important to us and was one reason why we picked the smaller POFQ over it's sister resort and other much larger Mod's.

POFQ is our favorite mod so far. I can't really comment on the buses as we always have a car, but from what I've heard, it's never really a problem.

I just find the resort to be very peaceful and relaxing.

We have stayed at POFQ several times and love the place! The bus service has always be great. Not much in the way of crowds of people trying to get on the bus and only a couple of times have we had a crowded bus. The magic truly begins as soon as I walk in the door there.

I love POFQ. It is still one of my favorites even among the deluxe resorts. Never had problems with the busses except for those few rude people who walk up late and get on ahead of those who have been waiting.

you actually expect people who have been standing - to wait for you to get up from your seat and get on the bus.

not happening.

besides they have no way to see what bus you are getting on. People aren't mind readers. this place has 2 stops for 4 buses.

if you want to be first on - then stand up near where the buses load. Don't go seat down.

We have stayed at POFQ twice and are staying there again in August. We really enjoyed the resort. The grounds are very very pretty. We requested Building 4 and were right next to the foodcourt with the bus stop right out back. We stayed in March during the week after Easter (Easter Monday till the following Sunday) and the only real problem we had with the busses was with DHS. We ended up taking a cab there one morning. But when we have stayed other places we have had bus problems only with DHS....so I blame it on the park

As for the getting on the bus thing.... We do both...sometimes we sit if there's space but Andy keeps an eye out for our bus and as soon as he sees it he steps up to where the bus stops... other times we stand around and when we see the bus we do the same as before. I kind of agree with the person above who said that there are 2 locations at one stop so you don't know where everyone is going.... I've never really seen people get fussy at the bus stop about people getting on the bus....

POFQ

I think POFQ is the best moderate resort and you will love it; however, after reading what you said about the queue, it was a little bit of a problem but not bad. The buses were great, plentiful, and we rarely waited over 15 minutes but people being people are definitely rude and will jump in front of you. It always amazes me how selfish and inconsiderate some people will be. One family tried to push on the back door of the bus as a wheelchair was coming out and the bus driver had to yell 3 times before they would stop!

Still, the resort is so much smaller it will still be easier than AS, I think.

We stayed ar POFQ in April during school vacation week 2006. We never had a problem w/ busses. The resort was beautiful and the pool was excellent for the kids. I would definately stay again.

Thanks everyone, Glad to hear that the buses won't be a problem. We won't be swimming, and don't have kids. We're hoping to be in the parks from open to close everyday. I may keep calling back to see if Pop opens up, but if not. It'll be okay

POFQ is our favorite moderate. The buses stop there before POR, and drop you off first on the way back. The first stop is Porte Cochere (the building where you check in).
