| Yacht Club vs. Beach Club Are there any significant differences between the two? Which do you like better and why? Hubby and I know that we can't take another WDW trip for a few years. We are working on paying off our debt and building our savings, but we need something to look forward to and we've decided that a WDW trip is a nice reward for getting out of debt. (And yes, that trip will be paid for with cash - via the Disney Visa. aka charge it for the points and pay it off as soon as the bill arrives. No balance!) To satisfy my Disney needs, I'm researching and having fun planning the distant trip. I think I've fallen in love with the idea of staying at the Yacht and/or Beach Club. And hubby agrees that it looks fantastic. But what's the difference between the two? Should we be satisfied with a standard room or request a "preferred" room? And what rooms are preferred? I think we'd ideally love to have a room with a balcony that overlooks the lake. How much extra is that likely to cost us? Any info you can share is greatly appreciated. |

Beach Club has lighter woods, lots of white trim and pastel colors like sky blue and sea-foam green. The both have access to the fabulous pool - Stormalong Bay and lots of great dining choices. Quote:

Other options include Club Level (concierge) rooms and suites. It's definitely a great location - the closeness to Epcot is the main reason we love staying there (that, and the pool!) What a great goal for savings - a stay at Yacht or Beach Club would definitely inspire me to save my pennies!

| We chose to stay at the Yacht Club for two reasons (over BC)...all rooms have a balcony or patio and we preferred the decor of the rooms. Now that BC has it's Marketplace for quick foods, that might sway me to stay there.

| I'm sure the Yacht Club is just as nice as the Beach Club. We stayed at the BC for my 40th birthday in April 2007. I can say one advantage for me is that I like to walk into World Showcase and Beach Club is closer the World Showcase and the Boardwalk. |

| We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Beach Club. It is more "laid back" than the Yacht Club. The Beach Club is closer to Epcot, and if you get a room facing Epcot, you can watch Illuminations at night from your balcony (although it may be standing room only). |

| I think it's a "personal taste" thing -- I grew up on the East Coast and the casual "beachy" feel of the Beach Club appeals to me. My uncle, on the other hand, is a big boat and yacht fan and literally drools when I show him pictures of the Yacht Club. Eileen

| Thanks for the info! Keep it coming!! I think we were thinking Yacht Club only because we'd read that all of those YC rooms have "real" balconies. But maybe Beach Club is the way to go. I grew up in New England and used to vacation down the Cape as a kid. And hubby grew up in New Jersey and his family still heads to "the shore" every summer.

| Hi Kelleigh1! We've stayed at the YC because my husband is a boat fanatic. We had a beautiful water view room where we could sit on our large balcony and watch the Epcot fireworks every night. The location cannot be beat because you are close to two parks. The only drawback to the waterview was hearing the horns of the water taxi type boats in the early a.m. I can't compare the two resorts for you because I haven't stayed at the BC yet but I'll let you know after my Dec trip!

| We prefer the Beach Club, as we find the theming is a little less formal and a bit more fun for our taste. It's also closer to Epcot, which is a great perk.

My thoughts exactly! YC is beautiful, but it felt more formal to me. BC felt like a party!

The Yacht Club has lots of plaids and "masculine" colors and furniture. Have you had a chance to view the pictures on AllEarsNet.com? Yacht Club Photos You could always request a second floor room with a balcony! Eileen

| I prefer YC because every room has a full-sized balcony. it is also closer to breakfast at the captain's galley (although there is cape may at beach club.) i have stayed at both and slightly prefer YC although i would stay at BC if YC was not available. Art and Tina are at the BC and not at YC and i really miss them! decor and other things aside, they are about the same. i just prefer the YC feel. |

| We stayed at YC for part of our honeymoon in 2001 and I have to say that I really didn't love it. We paid for a water view room and you literally had to go out on the balcony and lean over it to see the water. Big disappointment because we could've saved a lot of money and gotten the same view. I also found it to be very stuffy. The CM's weren't as friendly as at other Disney hotels we've stayed at. It was just too formal for us. We did love the pool though and are going to be staying at a BC villa in August. I think we'll like BC a lot more because it seems more laid back and relaxing. If it were me I'd go with BC.
