Question Wilderness Lodge advice...

Can anyone give me recommendations for better choices of standard rooms at the Wilderness Lodge?

We had a standard view room and they gave us a woods view, and it was fabulous.

us too!

It's such a great resort and pretty condensed, I think you'd be fine in any room there!

I had a standard view, and I was overlooking the maintenance area, lot's of service trucks and such. But I could see the monorail go by in the distance, part of the Contemporary, and the top of the fireworks at MK. If the lovely trees weren't so tall, I would have had a good view (if I didn't look down.) I asked about upgrades when I checked in, but was told the resort was sold out. I guess that's a better view than overlooking the parking lot? Not sure. I booked a Standard again for September, and requested a high room near the boat dock. Maybe I'll have better luck this time, but I won't expect it. And that's ok. I booked a standard at AKL once and was upgraded to Savannah view. Of course that was wonderful, but now I haven't been able to bring myself to book a standard at AKL because I will probably end up with the standard view! I can't dilute the memory of having the giraffes eating outside my room. But I guess I'm too cheap to actually pay for the Savannah view!

Thanks for giving me hope for the upgrade. I was a bit concerned because I talked with someone that just came back from a room that was really loud because it was right above WCC and had a view of delivery trucks all day. I am just trying to avoid a simalar situation.

We had a standard view room and was upgraded to courtyard view. It was amazing. This was our first time staying on disney property and we fell in love with WL!

Ok I have a question to add to this. when you book one room and end up with another view that is more expensive is that at disney's expense or your own?

Ask for North Wing. You will be far from WCC. I had room 2004 and 6004, both standards. They were the same corner room all the way at the end of the North Wing hall, right near the path for the Ferry Dock. From 6004, we saw the fireworks, the castle (thru trees), the Contemp, the Electric Water Pagent, and sometimes if we looked really hard, a monorail Very special because it was Christmas time and I got to see all the MVMCP firework shows while my 3 guys snored away late each night.

If THEY put you in a room without you asking, it's on them.
