You might stay at WL...that will be very nice, so cut down to 7 or 8 days and then you won't notice the price so much. Good luck.

Yeah; the doors as I recall them from 2001, at All-Star Movies (a Value, not even a Moderate) were metal-skinned FIRE DOORS, and even a fireman's axe would have had a really, seriously hard time getting through it. The locks are deadbolts, too, so that's pretty darned secure. The windows would be a more likely place for illicit entry, if the person involved didn't have a proper key.

Also, at all times of the day, there's always the chance someone will come around the corner, headed to or from the pools, so ... I don't think a thief would be particularly keen on even TRYING to break into any Disney resort rooms during the day. At night, well, we were asleep ... but I'm willing to bet Disney's security people are on the job.

Also remember, most of the time even getting TO the resort, for non-guests, can be problematic - there's a gate and a guard and all that, IIRC. So it's not really like any random neighborhood in the U.S. in terms of accessibility.

You'll LOVE the WL!!! If you need to shorten your stay a couple of night to do it, I'd say GO FOR IT! Being in a Deluxe is well worth it, especially if your DH is going to complain about having an outside door. My other suggestion was going to be the Swan/Dolphin. They offer a lot of discounts - nurses, teachers, military, etc... but their rates are in the moderate range for Deluxe accommodations. You do need to sacrifice a few little things I believe because they aren't TRULY Disney Property.

I use to work at POFQ and we never had any problems with breakins. You'll like where ever you stay. Enjoy your trip

CR you must walk outside for the wings and at Poly you must go outside same as GF. WL is the only deluxe I know of where you don't actually have to walk outside to get to the room. Hope this helps

no, those are not the only ones! AKL, the YC, the BC the BWI...most from the ones I have stayed at(all but the CR and the GF) I have never walked outside!

The only thing I would say about staying at WL is to ask for a room close to an elevator! Holy cow, that place is a maze. When DD and I stayed there last Oct, we absolutely loved it. However, after a llloooonnnnnggggggg day of walking at the parks, it was really tiring to come 'home' and get off the elevator, and know we still had about a mile of corridors to wind through before getting to our room! I was actually relieved when we transferred to CBR for the second half of our vacation, because it was a LOT shorter walk from the parking lot to the room.

My husband and I are the same way it just feels safer, but Disney World is the only place that we make the exception. We always feel perfectly safe and have never been bothered by any noise or anything else.

We love WL. But if it means you have to cut short your trip, maybe think of the mod. resorts. We have stayed at CBR & loved it. I felt it was very safe.
