FT.Wilderness is a ...

Ft. Wilderness Cabins is now listed as Moderate Resort. I looked to see what the price would be if we stayed in the cabin instead of the RV during our stay in December and it was still the same!!!

Could this be a future DVC property??? I wish they would slow down with all the changes

Hopefully they'll do a decent pool for it! I'm generally not TOO concerned with theme, but if I'm at Disney, I do sort of tend to expect a little more than just an ugly cement hole in the ground, lol! Even at a campground / cabin area, I feel like it should be prettied up a smidge. LOL! It will be interesting to see if they do anything at Ft. Wilderness or if they'll just leave it as-is and change only the category!

I had also heard they were going to "update" the main pool, I think. So we shall see.

They are in the process of updating the main Meadows pool. It is supposed to have a slide. I totally agree about the ugly cement hole in the ground. The cabins pool is great in the fact that it is about 6ft deep, which I love. but that's about it.

interesting that it is listed as a moderate resort. It was always a home away from home, which makes sense since it has a full kitchen. We'd be over the moon if they made part of it a DVC resort.

I spoke with a CM this morning and she said the pool is going to be alot like the pool at Hilton Head. She saw the pictures of what it's supposed to look like and her words where..''You are going to love it!" I'm excited! She said the reason they put the cabins with the moderates because they were "overlooked" ..hmmmm..I never would have thought that. And no talk about them becoming a DVC resort...

That doesn't surprise me. When most people hear Fort Wilderness, they automatically think of camping and RV's. When I first started staying there in the 70's, the cabins were mostly for flow over guests from overbooked resorts. This resort truly is overlooked.

I admit I'd be more likely to stay there if they upgraded the pool. I almost stayed there last Feb, because I loved the cabin idea, but hated the pool, so I went to POR instead.

Thanks for the information, everyone! I can't wait to see how it all pans out!

I'm not sure. I'm sure the pools will be open. Maybe you should give them a call and ask, the number for Ft. Wilderness is 407-824-2900.

I just ran some numbers and when you do a package the Cabins are still 25% higher than any other Moderate resort. Weren't they listed as DeLuxe before? Could this mean fewer CM supports and access as a result of the shift to listing it as a Moderate?
