Smile Where to stay first night off property??

We are booked at The Polynesian for Thanksgiving Thursday to Sunday. We have a flight arriving Wed at 6:00 pm. I need to decide where to stay off property that first night. Anyone have any suggestions? It is myself, hubby and our 6 year old daughter. My plan is to wake up early on Thursday, get "pre checked in" at the Poly as early as I can manage so we can hit Disney Studios early. We have a rental car.

Last trip, we decided to stay at PopC for the first night before we moved to BWVs. I'd suggest staying in one of the value resorts.

We've also stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza for a night before when I got a really good rate. So, check to see if Mousesavers or AllEarsNet have some specials listed for some nearby hotels as well.

hidden mickey has a great idea if you want to stay on propertywith the value resorts like pop,and all the allstar resorts .
but if you want to stay off property. i always use orbitz .com find a hotel within a 5 mile radias of disney usually the range is like $35.00 is what i call a bed and shower to hotels and resorts that cost up too over $100.00 per night it all depends on what your looking for .
when i only needed 1 night i went the cheap way to save money for the trip . if it was more then one night , like this trip i use those time share specials but the draw back is i have to sit thru it but they give alot in return. good luck

We have stayed at the Radisson Celebration and enjoyed the large pools, in-house pizza, ice cream, Starbucks, etc. and comfy rooms. Not the cheapest, but discounts are often available at Mousesavers, and it's less than 2 miles from WDW.

you might try priceline - just go check out betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com (don't just upset if she gets cold - it is just the way she is)

or if you don't want to bid.

then go with
Orlando Hotels and Orlando Hotel Sales | Travelzoo

it sometimes get downtown Disney hotels.
here is one
Orlando Hotels and Orlando Hotel Sales | Travelzoo

understand that sometimes they demand more days to stay here at that price.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency which is right in the airport. We had a late flight and didn't want to drive anywhere. It's very nice.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson on W Irlo Bronson Hwy (192 I believe) It was really close and inexpensive in Feb 2008. I believe it was around $40 per night. Checked in 2/28/08 and checked out 3/1/08 and bill was apprx $90 for both nights including tax. Rooms were clean same size as the all stars, pool looked nice but did not go in. Free Wifi in the lobby. Had an IHOP on the property too.

We're staying at the Best Western in DTD the first night. We've got a room w/balcony that we'll be able to see the fireworks from Epcot.

Personally if you are going to stay off property one night, I would stay at one of the DTD hotels. I stayed at the Best Western DTD for one night back in Jan, very nice hotel and you can go to DTD to grab a bite to eat..and some shopping..

Another vote for one of the DTD hotels. That is, if you aren't going to crash at a value resort - cuz that would be a great option as well. It seems that the Best Western and Regal Sun (? the old Grosvenor) seem to have the lowest rates. Although, you never know what savings can be found on MouseSavers.com - Disney Discount Source - Disney World Discounts, Disneyland Discounts, Disney Cruise Discounts Good luck!

I agree with the recommendations of a DTD hotel. We used my husband's Hilton points and stayed 1 night at the Doubletree last year. We were in Cocoa Beach and made a quick trip over for MNSSHP. It was a great resort. Almost great enough for us to consider staying there when we go this December (almost) The rooms were huge and we had a distant view of the ToT at DHS. You can find rates of $89 online, though they go up from there and are dependent on when you are going.

I think a value is a good idea or mousesavers.com currently has an offer for BuenaVista Suites- it looks nice and its cheap.
