Talking DTD hotel help! maybe a quick trip!

My husband might have a quick business trip in Orlando, 2nd week of Sept but wont find out for sure until Tuesday. So when he told me i got soo excited!!!! He told me not to keep my hopes high since he know for sure. Well, all sorts of things with through my mind! Like WDW!!!! I would take my girls out of school for 2 days and take a quick trip with him.

He wants to be near his work which would put us near DTD somewhere. Since we will have a rental car( which my husband will be using) I wanted to look at hotels that would have the shuttle service to the parks. He gets to pick his hotel so i thought just in case we get to go, let me research which hotel. I found a sticky on DTD hotels but wanted to know from fellow Passporters, which DTD hotel would you recommend? I wont start the actuall planning ofcourse until we find out but i think if we have a hotel down it would help....

Thanks in advance!

If you mean non disney hotel, I would suggest the Hilton. the rooms are great, it has a shuttle and is near everything......on property we like POFQ the best.....

For a non disney room-I have stayed a couple times at the Regal Sun (formerly the Grosvenor). It is nice and it has a shuttle service too.

all the DTD hotels have the same buses.

they share - each side of the street has 2 buses.

one bus goes to MK and AK, the other goes to Epcot and Studio. there schedule is every 30 minutes - which they kept.

they are all fine. LBVBW is a lot older - but even it is still okay.

the Hilton is the only one with EMH.

where is the conference?

Keep in mind that with their shuttle buses, they drop you off and pick you up in the middle of that huge bus parking lot. So keep the little ones near you so they don't go running off near those buses! (that's the main reason why I prefer to stay on site or drive my rental car!!)

FYI, our neighbors stayed at the Doubletree suites and loved it. Huge room and a good price, but it's the furthest if you want to walk to DTD. I've stayed at Royal Plaza and also the Holiday Inn now, I think, but it was the Courtyard when I was there. My parents stayed at the former Grosvenor and weren't all that impressed; but they've remodeled since. IMHO, the Hilton is probably the best.

We had friends stay at the Doubletree. They loved it.
We've stayed in a tower room at Hotel Royal Plaza and found it very comfortable. Good size room and very large tub in bath. (We could walk to DTD from there without much trouble). We had our own car so didn't use the shuttle.

So you're staying at the Best Western? See if you can request a room on a high floor with a view of the parks! Actually, I think you have to pay extra for the view of the parks, but if you're on a high floor, you can go to the outside stairwell and view all the fireworks too! (I did that once, not having stayed there. I just went and took the elevator to the top and stood out by the stairwell to see the view!)

Good luck planning - maybe you can snag an ADR somewhere!

definitely ask for as high as possible facing the parks.

my last trip the extra price was like $15 per day - WELL WORTH it.

some of the best reviews ever - okay not up close like you get a wdw resort - but they are pretty good!!!
