| Wilderness Lodge Questions I was looking at the Wilderness Lodge photos online, trying to get a feel for the resort, and I have a couple of questions: 1. Due to all of the woodgrain, the lobby looks kind of dark--is that the case, or is it really brighter inside than the photos seemed to indicate? 2. The resort map makes it look like all of the "standard" rooms would be right off the lobby. Are they the rooms that appear to open out onto the hallways that look down into the lobby? Everyone has really great things to say about the WL, so I am really looking forward to staying there on my next trip!! |

| The lobby os not only not dark, it is incredible. The best themed lobby at any WDW resort imho. Not all the Standard rooms overlook the lobby - some overlook the parking lot. You'll love WL

| We just came back from a few days at WL in late July. We had been there, but had never stayed there before. It was lovely. The theming in the lobby is wonderful! I don't know about where the standard rooms are, but I'm sure that any room will be top notch!

| I agree that it is not dark at all. It is a beautiful lobby. We have always booked a standard view. The first time we stayed there, we had a room that overlooked a little pond (?--never have seen it on a map. Maybe just where rain water had collected, but there were ibis and such feeding in it) and you could see the monorail go by in the distance. We were never tin our room in the evening, but I think you would have been able to see the fireworks at MK. If it weren't for the trees, I think you could have seen the castle. Other times we just had a view of part of some of the roof of the resort, and woods. We were upgraded one time to a water view, but it was just of the pool and to me I prefererred the other views as they were much more serene and relaxing-- a big part of what I like about this resort. One really neat thing to do at this resort, is go to the beach or out on the dock and watch the electric water parade. You'll love this resort!! It is one of my favorites!!!

| I'm staying there in Nov. with Dmom and Dsis! It'll be the first time for all of us, although mom and I have both been to Artist Point, so we've seen the lobby. That's what made me fall in love with the resort and want to stay there!! I'm hoping they'll offer us a bounce back for later in the year, and I can take the kids and DH in January or later in the year. Your posts are making me really look forward to my trip (even more so that I was before!)

| WL is amazing! The lobby is beautiful! The totem poles are so cool, and the bubbling spring that starts in the lobby and goes all the way outside to the pool area is just fantastic! We have always had a pool/lake view room. I am not sure where the standard rooms are.

| The grand fireplace in the lobby is a masterwork of imagination. According to our guide on the Keys to the Kingdom tour in May, the stone on the fireplace mimics the strata of the Grand Canyon. I checked it out, and it seems to be true! Very impressive ![]() |

| Judging from the responses you've received so far, I guess it just depends on your definition of "dark". ![]() We were there last month. We had a standard view room on the 5th floor, right in the middle of the lobby. Our room faced the Magic Kingdom. We could see Space Mountain through the trees and could see the high fireworks at night. Some standard view rooms might also extend down the hallways, but I'm not real sure where they would switch over to becoming "woods" view rooms. Even though the service road was below us we didn't have any noise from it. And even though we couldn't really "see" anything from our balcony, we loved coming out of the room every morning directly into the lobby and seeing the chandeliers and totem poles. That beats overlooking the woods or the pool for me any day.

| Here is a important tip when entering WL. If there is someone in front of you as you enter, don't follow very close or you will run into them when they stop suddenly to take in the view of the lobby of WL.

| The lobby is very dark (at least I found it to be so when I visited in February), but very stunning and beautiful!

| The lobby is dark, but not that "gloomy" dark... it's a cozy, intimate kind of feel, even though it's a huge space. We had a "woods view/bunk beds" room in April/May and it was right above the lobby but every room in the lodge opens to an interior hall way, not outside. There are balconies that can overlook the pool, woods or Magic Kingdom (which may be obstructed by large trees). It's a beautiful resort. |
