Question Best "decade" to stay at at POP

Hi, this is our first time staying at POP. (We were originally booked to stay at the Contemporary and it was a choice of going to WDW and staying "more affordably" or not going at all. So we have a "preferred" room ressie at POP. Any opinions will be gladly accepted.
Thanks Cyndi

We originally asked for a 50s preferred room, but when we checked in they only had a 60s room available. As long as we didn't have to walk far, it didn't make any difference to us and it ended up being PERFECT. Close enough to the food court, far enough away from the pool- and on the top floor. We were there for 7 nights and loved it the whole time. Never heard our neighbors or anyone else outside on the grounds. We could see the food court building, but didn't have any of the traffic from it. I think our building said something like "Groovy". If we walked around the balcony at night we could see the Epcot sphere lit up and Illuminations.

We stayed there last fall. We didn't request a building but we loved where they put us!!! We were in the 60's building out toward the end by the lake. It was nice to walk out there in the morning, and it wasn't far to the pool or the lobby/bus. I think it was an ideal location!!!

I've stayed several times at the Pop. The 90's is the far away from the food court and the bus stops, so you want to avoid that if you can. The 50's or 60's is the best, they are close to everything. I just love the whole resort though.

We had a preferred room at POP for our trip this past April. We were on the third floor in the 60's building and LOVED it!! Our view was of the kiddie fountain pool right beyond the main pool. It was a great location - close to food and buses!! It was our first stay at this resort and we will definately be back. Enjoy your trip!!!!!!

Another good place to stay, or so I've read, is the 80's ... Building 9 ... the arm of the "T" that sticks AWAY from the pools. That puts you close enough to the food court - and the bus stops, especially - with very little extra walking to get to either, compared to preferred buildings.

We've got a building 9 request right now, an when we get there, I'll reiterate that - I'm hoping for 2nd floor, not too far from the stairs at the end of the row. Off the ground floor, but, not LOTS of stairs to climb.

I stayed in the 60's building (on the side away from the pool) in March this year, and it was great! Quiet, close and convenient.

Have fun!

We stayed in a preferred room. Our building had Mougli and Baloo. Our room was away from the pool and we could see a splash fountain. It was close to everything we needed and it was quiet. I think we were 3 rooms from the end of the walkway on the top floor

We just got back and stayed in the 80's setion (building 7). I did not like the hike to the buses and food court, but it was away from all the commotion of the main pool and very quiet.

We stayed in the 80's building and found it very enjoyable. We were just beside the computer pool and we were a short walk (cutting thru the 90's parking lot) away from the bus stops and food court. Since you will have a preferred room, you should be nice and close to everything in the 50's or 60's. Have a great time, Pop is great!

We stayed in the 60's building facing the lake. It was peaceful and quiet. We could even see Fireworks from outside our door @ night :-) We are going again Dec 09 and I have already asked for 3rd floor 60's facing the lake! It's close to pools, food and buses.... Hope this helps :-)

Our 3rd trip to POP is this Saturday and we have requested the 80's section again. I agree totally with the building 9 fans above. It really is a short walk to the food court and busses if you cut across the parking lot. Also the food court and bus stops are at the end of the main hall closest to the 80's. A few other positives about the 80's: The pool is much less crowded and quieter than the main pool. We had it all to ourselves a couple times during out stay. Since it is quieter and close to the lake, we had ducks land in the pool a few times. My kids thought that was great!.

Each decade has advantages and disadvantages. What I would do is this: If one area's theming appeals to you more than another, go with that area. I was in High School and college in the 80's so I enjoyed this area a lot. Also they play 80's music by the 80's pool! That sealed the deal for me!
