The Poly is my favorite hotel, as far as the theming goes. I wish I could live there, so that would be my choice. My Mum likes the GF best, though, and we sent her for one night (with my Dsis) for her bday and she was in heaven. But I would still vote Poly. I just love the atmosphere, and the restaurants, and the pool!

All in all not a bad decision to make!

Beth

We stay at the Poly when we have the kids with us, the theme is important for them. When we stay just my Dh and I we do the GF, theme not much for kids......

I think the Poly has the edge for kids (especially for the pool). We were contemplating the same decision, and ended up with a split stay at WL (kids loved WL on a prior trip) and Poly for our upcoming trip. GF would not have been much more $$, but we like the theming better at Poly for the kids.

That said, GF does have some interesting activities for the kids, including the pirate adventure leaving from the GF marina (you don't have to be a GF guest to book this).

Have fun choosing - you can't go wrong with either.

We always stay at the Grand Floridian for our annual trip in July and we just love it there!!! It's such a beautiful resort and the cast members are so friendly. My kids really like the pool with the slide!! The rooms are really gorgeous now that they have been remodeled.

I've never stayed at the Poly, but we loved the GF. We had 3 kids at the time and they all loved it there, too. We could see the monorail go by our balcony, so my husband made a game out of guessing which color would go by next, which the kids loved. And we stayed in early Nov., so one morning when we woke up we found the lobby and grounds magically transformed to Christmas. They were working on the gbread house in the lobby when we walked by and my DH had a wonderful time watching and asking questions. The kids really loved it there, and so did I--it's a beautiful hotel and really not stiff or stifling for a family with young children. (Also the Cinderella dinner at 1900 Park Fare is there and you can watch the MK fireworks from the grounds!)

We vote for the G.F. While the Poly looks nice, it's always been a ways down my list of resorts that I want to stay at. The G.F. is beautiful both inside and out, has wonderful restaurants and nice pools. There's wonderful places the watch the M.K. fireworks from and I found the staff be very nice. You can't go wrong with either resort really if the monorail is important to you. G.F. is just a tad closer to M.K. getting there and just a quick boat ride for the return.

We stayed at Poly in 2004 and it was really nice. The rooms were rather dull in color but I believe they were refurbished lately??? Our room was right by the monorail which is louder than one would think! If you stay there, don't stay in the Aotearoa longhouse.
Good luck with your choice!

We have stayed at the Poly a number of times and absolutely love it. The only reason we don't stay there anymore is that we cannot justify the cost of a deluxe with two boys in college (the oldest graduated, but going back for his Masters) and, therefore, stay at the CSR every visit now. We have never tried the GF and have had no desire to do so--it's just not our style. A little too "fancy" for our taste.

We're staying at the Poly in Feb, but it was a HARD decision between that and the GF. Honestly I'm still not 100% sure, lol... My problem is I want to stay at ALLLLL of them RIGHT NOW. So it's hard to choose.

We ended up choosing the Poly for a few reasons. Mostly because the grounds are spectacular and the rooms are I think the largest (non-suite or villa) on property (if you're in the newer buildings). The theme is just gorgeous and immersive, and I like that.

But the GF is on my list and might well be next up for our 2010 trip... so if you choose it, give a detailed report!

I vote for Poly. I went to the GF to look around last year and was under impressed. I actually found it yucky. Its all stuffy and hobb-nobb ish. BLECK! I LOVE the Poly though. We stayed there with my grandparents twice. I would stay there again if I had the money but I could take 2-3 trips staying at the values for the price of one Poly trip

I think they both have great locations, great restaurants, beautiful grounds and great pools though the waterslide is better themed at the Poly, IMHO. I don't think you can go wrong at either....I would look more to what type of vibe you prefer...South Seas versus Grand Victorian. Some people find the GF stuffy but I haven't felt that way. Good luck deciding!

We loved both. The Poly is great for location and transportation as you can just walk over to the TTC & hop the Epcot monorail. I loved the themeing and brightness of the GF as well as the service. DH preferred the decor and themeing of Poly. Both are fantastic though.

We did GF on our honeymoon in'98 and although it was beautiful I odn't think I'd stay there now with my kids. A bit to hoity toity for my little ones. I'd love to do Poly one day but we've been staying at the WL. My kids love it, we love it, dparents love it and although direct access to the monorail would be awesome (since we spend the most time at MK) we LOVE taking the boat from WL to MK. Very peaceful. good luck with your decision. If only we all had such dilemma's, lol.
