| Resort Ever Ruined Your Trip? Okay, this may seem like an odd question, but has the resort you've chosen ever ruined your trip? I am trying to decide between 2 resorts for our trip next year. Each has been criticized and praised to one extent or another. I know this, like many decisions, is about personal taste. But, I don't want to throw caution to the wind and get burned in the end. The bottom line is, I have done tons of research and could do more ... but in the end I NEED to make a decision. So ... the big question remains ... even if you've been less-than-thrilled with a Disney resort, how did it effect the trip? Was it so displeasing that you wished you were home? Or was it just a minor thing here and there that added up to the fact you wouldn't choose the place again?. At this point I am thinking, it's Disney ... how can I go wrong with any resort? Am I being foolish?

| Never had a resort stay that made me wish I was home. Never anything even close to being a bad experience.

| I haven;t had nearly as many trips as most passporters, but each and every one has been wonderful!!! Even the trip with my MIL was annoying, but I still loved every part of he trip! We spend very little time at the resort, so for us, it's not a huge part of the planning process. I chose a resort based on price and also bus service and things like that. It's Disney, i just cannot see it being so bad that it would ruin the trip. they're so good about making sure guests are happy.

| You will pretty much find critisizms for all resorts and such, so I never go by those. I have never had a resort ruin my stay. Though one year I was there with Hurricane Jeanne and was staying at Pop Century. I was supposed to leave the 1st night it started and the airport closed. I tried to get an extension at Pop or anywhere else on property, but they said there was no rooms avail and they would call if one came avail. Meanwhile they recommended I call around and see if I can find a room at another hotel in Orlando. After calling numerous hotels I found a motel 8 with a room. Which I ended up having to go to since Disney never found a room for me. The room I got at Motel 8 had 3 leaks in it and the room reeked of wet air freshener and dog. Yes, the hotel allowed pets and I found out soon why the room smelled like room freshner when I arrived. Now I did have a great trip that year, however, what I remember most was how it ended and having to find a hotel off site due to no rooms. Didn't help that while reading someones trip report when I got home, they called at 10:30 am and got a room at the Wilderness lodge for that night. They had origionally booked offsite for thier first night as they were arriving late and was set to book into the beach club the next day. They wanted to be on Disney property for the hurricane. I had talked to the front desk at 6:30am. Funny, no room for me to stay another night, but someone just coming down got one. Needless to say I do like Pop, but this is something I remember till this day and tend to not want to stay there now. |

| We honeymooned on spring break which meant we could only afford ASMu, and it could obviously have been more romantic and we honestly will probably never aim to stay there again...it did NOT ruin the trip, not one bit, not by a longshot. In our experience, what CAN "rain" on the trip is staying off property.

| I had a not so stellar first time at the Pop... but it didn't ruin the trip (the resort PIZZA ruined a lot of the trip, but I hear the pizza for all resorts sucks so...) I've been to the world since then and am returning to the parks AND the Pop in January... so no, I don't let it bother me. I'm at freaking Disney!

| I wouldn't say a resort ruined my trip, but I was less than impressed with the service and view that I had expected. I had done lots of investigating about where to stay for a romantic place for just DH and I. YC Club Level Garden View did not live up to the reputation we had read about. The balcony chairs where covered in a black filth and spider webs. The view was of the service area and air conditioning vents. Club level staff seemed lost. Room service trays sat outside rooms all day and night. We offered to pay for a room change and club level staff could not change our room. The third day of our stay I was just not happy with the lack of any view and DH let the Resort manager know his club staff couldn't help us. Well the resort manager changed us to a lagoon view with out a charge. I would only go back to YC if someone else was paying. But then again other people love the place. Just not my favorite place to sail. |

| We weren't crazy about our stay at CBR, but it certainly didn't ruin our stay. Never could put my finger on why we didn't care for it; we just won't stay there again.

| I can't say I've ever had a bad experience with any of the Disney resorts we've stayed in. To be honest, one of the draws is to be staying in the magic - regardless of where it is on Disney property.

| Disney will do their very best to make any stay at any resort magical - so if you don`t like your resort talk to them at the front desk and see what they can do. DD and I checked into POP a few years ago - there was nothing wrong with the resort but we were sorry we hadn`t stuck to the original plan and stayed at POR. We asked and we were moved - no problems at all. Though a move up a category can be more expense. If you have any problems at a WDW resort talk to them about it, people reccommend going to the front desk and not to phone, in our experience Disney is full of very helpful people.

| We've liked all Disney resorts we stayed at so far - I really don't think you have to worry when you opt for an on-site resort. On a side note, we had one really really bad hotel experience in Anaheim. We stayed at an off-site hotel right by the Disneyland Resort and it was horrible - to the extent that it put a major damper on our vacation fun. So, yes, a truly horrible hotel can indeed ruin your vacation, IMO. If you stay at a Disney resort, though, that's not gonna happen! Just be sure to let a CM know if anything really bugs you so that they have a chance to make it up to you.

| The only resort I didn't love was ASMo, and I think I would have felt differently if we weren't there at peak time in the summer, but no it didn't ruin my trip. We spent less time relaxing at the resort than other trips, but we still had a good time. I did have to stop reading hotel reviews though, because every hotel gets good and bad. On our first trip to Disney, I hadn't been in 15 years, and didn't know where to stay, and really stressed about it. We were going to stay at POR, and then I kept getting on tripadvisor (which has hotel reviews), and reading all of these bad things, so I changed it, then I changed it again--- I ended up changing it three times because of trip advisor. So, then I checked my honeymoon hotel (Hyatt in Maui) which I thougth was I thought was a slice of heaven on earth(knowing that if that had bad comments, that any hotel will)--- and read all of these negative reviews about that too--- I realized that every hotel will have negative reviews (every single one), so I gave up on reading hotel reviews, and just went with the hotel with the theme we wanted. I never read trip advisor anymore : (unless we're driving to Florida, just to get a general sense of a possible overnight stop--- but I know I'll read some negatives--- I just want to make sure it's not all really scary negatives, but as far as Disney goes, I don't worry about reviews anymore).

| Don't let it affect your trip. Afterall, you're still in Disney! It will only be a minor issue in the end (I admit to complaining in the past, but in the big scheme of things the good stuff out weighs the bad at a disney hotel)

| I only had one trip to Disney where I felt my experience at the hotel was enough to make me want to go home ASAP! We stayed at OKW and we had a couple ofissues with the room... no biggie, but then we had the most horrible neighbors above us AND below us.. The busses were always late or they wouldnt show, it was the trip from hedouble hockey sticks- because we already had flight issues on the way there(long story) oh and then delays on the way home too...where we were on the plane and we had to turn back because of mechanical problems... So I guess the moral of the story is, the resort itself can make your trip miserable. But in Disney---the CM can usually help with any issues.. In our case they did clean the room again(1 of the issues) and there was not a whole lot they could do about the inconsiderate people above and below us. The bus issue- we complained and they had someone there to log in the buses. They apologized for the fact the busses were really off schedule and they would fix it ASAP! Good Luck! |
