ARGHHH having to change resort plans...

Originally it was going to be three adults (me, mom and my friend), plus my DD (turning 3 on the trip) staying at the Poly for 5 nights.

Well my friend lost her job, unfortunately, so she has understandably backed out of the trip, with my blessing.

So that leaves a decision to be made here. Mom and I don't want to suck up the rest of her cost for the Poly. We can do one of the following:

1) WL
2) CR in the garden wing

So, with that said... can you give me pros and cons of each? LOL!

Argh... I want to talk to mom about it but she says we can't discuss Disney until we get back from the beach on Sept 20. So I must turn to you all to listen to me for the next month! So irritating... just as I FINALLY happily settled on the Poly... *grumble*

Sorry about your friend. I haven't stayed at either hotel but I'd take the CR with a 3 year old.

I haven't stayed at CR, but DH and I loved WL as did our 3 y.o. I would vote for WL. It is a gorgeous place! I assume it would cost less to stay there, the pool is great, you can ride surrey bikes or walk to Ft. Wilderness for activities there, and the boat ride to MK is a relaxing way to start your day. It's also just an elevator ride down to food and snacks which could be more convenient with your DD. The rooms are on the "smaller" side, but more than adequate for 2 adults and a little one. Sorry your original plans fell through but I think you would really like WL!

I think we'll probably end up at WL. And it's gorgeous. I visited last Feb when I hopped around the lake resorts for a day...

And of course I broke the rule and talked to mom about it anyway, lol. She doesn't "get" my Disney love. She likes it well enough but it's not the end-all-be-all. LOL! So I think she's leaning toward the WL because it's beautifully themed and cheaper than the CR.

I'm just so irritated. It's tough when you take months to settle on a resort, and then you choose one and get to know it like the back of your hand and start arranging your stay, and then BAM, fate says, "Just kidding. Start over."

...

But that's ok! It's WDW, and I am still SO excited!

(@)*#@()&*(^@!&

Forget this post. This morning I gave mom the allears site so she could check everything out herself. Apparently she has been drinking some of my Kool-Aid because she was looking everything over and kept asking me questions about this that and the other.

THEN she finally decided that yes, the Poly is worth the extra money, and not only that, but we should take advantage of the discount while we have it, and stay 6 nights.

So now we're back at the Poly, for crying out loud. Sorry for the false alarm... and thanks for the responses! I still want to try both CR and WL on future trips...

Woo Hoo! Lucky you! The Poly is beautiful, and while I have had great stays at the WL and CR, I would definitely prefer the Poly. Have a magical trip!!

Definitely stay at the Wilderness! Especially because it's a short ride to the Magic Kingdom, which is where you wanted to be in the first place, right?

Have a great time wherever you end up.

At least you are one step closer to having your mom understand Disney obsession!

The Poly is great, too - our son loved the play area near the pool that had water jets! And a bonus night - that's great!

Have a fun trip!

Yeah I think I'm finally bringing mom around to my way of thinking. You could have knocked me over with a feather when she kept asking me questions about the Poly. I was talking to her about the WL vs the CR, and she kept asking me how the price compared to the Poly. For the 6 nights it's a difference of $400, so she said what the heck, might as well do it while we can.

Usually mom is much more frugal, so this was a huge deal, lol! But she really loves the idea of being on the water and having the theming, and she just didn't want to give up the convenience of the monorail.

She also said we might as well do a character meal every day... because we might as well immerse ourselves in the magic while we're there. I'm not sure exactly who this woman is or what she's done with my mother, lol, but I'm liking this!

Wow! I can't even get my mother to WDW. (Not a bad thing). Got Dad there about 14 years ago. Trying to hint to DSS that niece and nephew ages soon to be 6 & 3 need a DCL trip. They have both done WDW and DL.

Glad it all worked for you!

Good for you! I'm glad it worked out. We loved loved loved the Poly when we were there last December, and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!! No one in my family is the Disney fanatic that I am, so I know how you feel, but at least my Mom really likes it, which is nice. Enjoy your trip!!!

Glad to hear your still at the Poly. We stayed there in June and just loved it. That being said both the CR & WL are on my short list of future resorts.

I am so looking forward to my first time staying in a monorail resort. I have a long list of resorts I want to try... and it seems like I'm NEVER going to get through them...

But mom is funny and has been talking more about WDW this week, so there's potential there... I think once she sees DD at Disney, her entire outlook will change, and she'll book the next trip before we're done with this one, lol. There's nothing like watching a toddler / preschooler at Disney. They still "believe" and it's all just so magical to them in this very real way. I loved seeing DD get so excited!
