Corondo Fans ... Can you help?

Okay ... so I think I've decided on Coronado Springs as our resort for our May 2009 trip. I'm just working out a few things here on my end regarding requested room location (which I know is not a guarantee) and such. I have a few questions ...

The bus route to parks goes: Casitas, Ranchos, Cabanas, El Centro ... correct? Has anyone who's used the El Centro stop climbed aboard to find no seating??? If so often - every time? Just the morning of the EMH?

Also - is there a convention schedule available to the public? Any way to know who is conventioning there during our stay -- Before we get there?

9B seems like the most ideal location -- and is apparently the most coveted. How far really is 9A from 9B? It doesn't look so far to me. I'm interested in being near PM and bus transportation first, and Dig Site second. I'm sure we'll go to the Dig Site several times in our week there, but we'll need the bus every day and food and drinks (need to refill that mug!) everyday.

Lastly, since I know room requests are only requests (and we might get placed in Ranchos 7A), can you confirm whether or not there are internal shuttles? Feature articles on various Web sites mention them but some reviewers have noted that "it would be nice if there was internal transportation." (And I can't look it up in my PP because my dad borrowed it - he's hooked ).

Thanks a lot!!!

Yup, Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas are sections of rooms, El Centro is where the restaurants, gift shop, guest services are.

9a and 9 b are not too far apart at all. I stayed in each of them I believe and both are great. There is an enternal transportation avail. There are these golf cart type buggies that go around the lake. You can hop on one of them. The bus does go to the Casitas first, then Ranchos, followed by Cabanas and then El Centro. I always go in value season mostly and never had a problem getting a seat. This is with getting on at the Cabanas.

One of the great things to do at CSR is after a long day at the beach, grab an adult beverage of choice, find a hammock along the water and relax while gazing at the stars. It is sooooo relaxing

I love Coronado, it is my fave resort that I have stayed at and I am staying there again next month, I can't wait

If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me and I will try to answer any and all of your questions

You will love CSR, it is a beautiful resort

We stayed in Cabanas 8B during Christmas week of 2006. It was right beside 9A or 9B...I am not sure which one. It was a great location as well. Not too far of a walk to El Centro, a quiet pool beside the building, a laundry room right beside the building, not too far from the main pool, we could run across the parking lot in back of the building to the bus stop...just an overall good location.

At times the buses were crowded but I don't remember them being so horrible and it was the busiest time of the year. Sometimes we got seats, sometimes we would be jammed on the bus, sometimes they were practically empty. We could always wait for the next bus if it was too bad. As I recall, we had a tougher time with the buses at Port Orleans Riverside the Christmas before that and I didn't think that was so so bad either!

There were golf carts that were being driven around by CMs that would pick people up and bring them to El Centro. They stopped and asked us if we wanted to ride a few times when we were headed in that direction or back to our building but we didn't mind the walk and so we never really used it. There didn't seem to be a set schedule or place to get them though...at least if there was, I never saw it. It seemed kind of random.

Coronado Springs is a beautiful resort...very relaxing and pretty. We were kind of worried when we switched to it because of some reviews we had read but we had a great savings so that made up our minds to give it a try and it was great! We loved it there and would definitely go back again!

I personally love the Casitas building. I don't mind the walk to the main building (they have drivers that will take you there by golf cart if you don't want to walk) and it's right there next to the first bus stop. It's not too far from the pool or the main building, but far enough away that you're not involved with all of the traffic that seems centered around the Cabanas...

That is where we stayed, very close to the bus stop......and the main pool. We really enjoyed the walk and got to ride the golf cart once.

I love CSR, it was one of my favorite places to stay before we got our vacation club. I think the bus service there is the best of any the resorts. We stayed at Casitas once, then the Cabanas a couple other times. I remember requesting Cabanas and having no problem getting them but I went when it wasn't too crowded.

I wouldn't worry about the convention folks except for maybe the lounge area and maybe the restaurant at times. To me it's always so peaceful and quiet there and the resort is spread out enough that I don't think you would notice them.

We just returned a couple of days ago from Coronado. We stayed in Casitas building 4. It was about a 5 minute walk to the Pepper Market and main building. Our building was right near the first bus stop and next to the quiet pool. For a quicker walk to the main building I would ask for building 1,2 or 3.
There were times when the bus would stop at El Centro first then proceed to Casitas. This happened very rarely.
Going to the dig site was about a 10 minute walk from our room, but it was a beautiful walk around the central lake with hammocks to relax in.

We requested the Cabana's but got put into the Ranchos in June. We loved the Ranchos. The bus stop #'s are El Centro 1, Castias 2, Ranchos 3, Cabana's 4. The buses were great and we were right by a bus stop. We were way in the back but I didn't mind at all.

We had building 5... but my brother got lost and tried to find our room SEVERAL TIMES in our 8 day stay in building 4...

of course, instead of correcting him, we would watch him go up the elevator every time

cabana 9b will not be an option after 01/2009. That will be the new club level building.

I notice that lots of “fan sites” are pushing CSR guests to request the Cabanas Building 9B or to try to book into one of the low numbered Casitas. Quite often this is poor advice, probably because it is so simplistic. These are not necessarily the best locations for every guest, in fact not best for most.

For conventioneers the Casitas 1 or 3 are often the best. These are close to the convention center; but quite a distance from pools and bus stops.

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. These have quiet pool, close bus stop access, fitness center, spa, salon,…….you get the picture.

For “leisure guests with children” my favorite buildings are 8a, 7b, 8b, 9b, 6b, 9a, and 6a…………in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance! It is much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The Fourth floor of building two actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own pluses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Depending on what you want to be close to, here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Hmmm .. 9B will be club level? That's too bad because I really think that was the best building for us (not that I'd be guaranteed to get it anyway, but a girl can dream ...)

We'll be a mixed group - DD's (5 & almost 3), DH and I (mid-30's) and parents and in-laws (60's and 70's). I figured we'd at least be at PM twice a day for drinks (we plan to get the refillable mugs - we did last time and that purchase made sense for us). But maybe I don't need PM that much ... can anyone tell me about Siesta's Cantina? They're open from 11-7 so I am guessing I could do lunch/dinner there. And I can refill mugs there too, right? Coffee or just soda?

We DEFINITELY need to be at a bus stop - no car for us. And, we'll hit the pool too a few times that week. Maybe 8b or 9a is our best choice ... not sure. I'll have to study the map! OR if Siesta's fills our needs refreshment-wise maybe 8A is the best choice???

Buzz2001 - I've checked your site on several ocassions (it's now saved as one of my "favorites"). It actually helped me to decide on CSR. Thanks for the site -- and your reply.

I am kind of laughing at myself about how much thought I am putting into this ... I can request whatever I want and Disney will put me wherever THEY want ... oh the things I put myself through!!!

No problem. 9A is a good choice too. Any of the cabanas buildings would work.
